I have had fun with this war. I will continue to have fun with this war. But once again it points out how bad the game mechanics surrounding port control needs to change.
yeah of course the port war needs to change, putting ships in the middle of the battle to take or retake the port. but even the battle system should be changed ! because at that point if the battle will be 5 ships VS 5 ships, ships of the line belonging to veterans will beat little newbies fleets and it will be useless to be in a nation of newborns, although active, if they have no chance.
but i read nice ideas like the fort (or coastal defenses).
We could add even the idea of max ships in a port in defense and higher cap for attackers (cause defenders could have port). A siege at the end.
But overall i would like to see a new battle system, not the 5 vs 5 as now cause at the end i can afford 100 sloops level 10 but they have no impact on ships of the line level 10. but it should be different, meaning that people can concentrate their force in one place and being able to outnumber a stronger enemy and to beat him.
Technically this is possible now, 10 fleets of decent level 10 sloops would eventually beat a SOTL fleet, though you'd probably run out of turns before knocking them over.
Crap SOTL are really not not worth much, anything under 50 points is mostly bait, it isn't the ship level but the ship attributes that count.
The scenario you paint is hardly limited to PG, a kid rocking up in a gocart with fire stripes is going to get lapped by a NASCAR, you do the time you get the rides, or in our case , ships.
