That's not always the case. This forum already uses a blocking feature. The Nation/Guild/Tavern (not the main forums but the RP Tavern) Forums should employ a similar feature (which is what is being requested) when you set PMs to be blocked.

I'll post the image again. Note that Display This Post after the blocked message. The message can still be viewed.

Interesting, i can honestly say i have never known of that feature nor used it. It is nice that it allows the player a link to reveal it should they wish.

If it worked similarly i could then see a use in national forums. For guild, im not yet convinced. Why should anyone block another player within the same guild? Perhaps the guild or leaders should look into why a player has earned such a dislike from his fellow members.

Perhaps this suggestion warrants further discussion or refinement and i will change my vote to have it moved into discussion rather than disapproved.

I suspected as such based on how my comments and the suggestion were received, which is why I posted a screenshot of how it works. It's not something you would know about unless you are an avid forum user. This isn't the only forum I frequent, nor the first that I've moderated. Features as such are very useful when dealing with people that are nuisance posters, who don't actually break the rules, but make it very difficult to have a meaningful discussion with others.

But... users can already be added to "foe list".

The description says "Foes are users which will be ignored by default. Posts by these users will not be fully visible. Personal messages from foes are still permitted. Please note that you cannot ignore moderators or administrators."
So I guess that is exactly what this topic talks about.

*edit*
I just tried. The foe's post appears as "closed" but I was able to click on a "display this post" button and still read it.

Yes it does work for these forums. The suggestion is that if blocked in game, the guild and nation forums posts in game should work similarly.

The in-game system should be unrelated to the forum account. The key reason for this is that there is:

1 game account and 1 forum account.
Currently, there is also 1 world account.

However, there was a time that this wasn't the case as we had 2 game worlds. So we had:

1 Game account, 1 forum account and 2 world accounts.

The in-game blocklist, is not a game account attribute but a world account. So "world-accounts" cannot have preferences that reflect on game or forum accounts. The opposite is possible.

There are more reasons though:
1)World Accounts are roleplaying accounts. They should not relate to the actual person behind the character. We want to allow this type of freedom.
2)One must retain his right to keep his forum account unlinked to his world account. Someone, might not want to reveal who his forum account is and such a feature would betray it. Of course, this is close to never happening right now but there is little meaningfulness for this too, as we currenly have 1 world. If we had more than 1 world, such feature would be trivial and problematic.

Finally, this is a suggestion that targets something that can already be done indirectly, with closely similar results. Even if we would approve it, it would get a super low priority like any other suggestion that targets something that can be done already. Only that this would be even lower as the chances of someone actually using it and benefiting from it are so slim, that they do not justify the needed development time.

So, disapproved, 100%.
