How so?

Historic as in it has a low number meaning it's been around for a long time and was created much earlier in the game. There is no inherent value to it; only those that specifically care about collecting old ships will be willing to pay extra for it.

That is not the point of Shadowoods post ;)

It's simply a different perspective. His job is selling the fact that it is a "historic" ship, which he sees the value in.

But the ships ID is not historic...

It has 6 digits...

So I ask again, How is this ship "historic"
I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!

Now if he stole that off of say Black Sparrow... Then it would have some historic value.

This game/community doesn't seem to have an objective standard for how old something has to be in order to be considered "historic", such as the US standard that if a car is 25 years or older it is considered "classic" no matter what. At this point it is arbitrary and depends on your definition of historic.

The one you showed may be more historic than the one he is selling, but that doesn't mean the one he is selling isn't historic necessarily.
————————
Just a little side note; although the credit amount he is selling it for seems more than it should cost to build a lvl 60 MOW, one could argue that because they cannot actually be crafted and only obtained once, they have a limited number in circulation and thus they sell for more than people say it would cost to build one.

Tl;Dr if the demand greatly outweighs the supply, the market price will increase.

That being said, I'm not certain that is the case at this moment in time.

I would perhaps consider it historic and rather collectible if that number happened to be 100000

other wise you going to need to find a much lower number for me to think its historic either.

To be clear, I'm not passing judgement on whether it is or it isn't historic; that would not effect the value in my eyes personally. I was simply saying that another person could in fact consider it historic and that wouldn't necessarily be false per se. Neither is you saying it isn't historic; they are simply two perspectives of the same thing.

Honestly anything past 6 digits isn't very historic in my eyes. I mean sure its a good bit older then most at this point, we are in the 300K now, so anything in the 100K range is old, but not old enough to warrant much of a raise in cost.

My dear friends,

I have been deliberately ignoring this discussion as some cunning fellow, grabbed the opportunity to sell his own MoW at the same time as my precious auction. Of course, this action proved really smart as he immediately earned a bid, as he started the bidding from quite a low end. Of course, I would have hoped he would at least start at 650 but anyway...

So, I intended to stay clear of the discussion, till this other... auction ends. This way, there would be no... free exposure. But so be it. I can bear the losses. Perhaps this cunning fellow could prove... generous in the end and send me a small present, right? After all, I am sure he will now get at least 650 credits as this should be the bottom price for such a ship right now!

Back on my own auction though, the marvelous historic Man o' War that you all have been talking about.

You need to know that it is not brand new. This ship, has been won in Battle. Alas, I do not know by whom, as the mysterious seller was unsure. But he told me that it was a 60 pointer at the time of its capture. It also belonged to a very known player, alas no one knows who. But you will have to take my word, just like I took his.

The ID is also low for a Man o' War. I have been informed that MoWs started sailing around 65.000 or later. By all means, you will not easily find such vessels below 200k.

I guess all the above, make this ship historic. Perhaps, once sold, one could tell us by ID if he recognizes it as his own MoW. Should the buyer reveal the ID of course.

Every black dot is 2 digits:

I have two more MoWs in there, inside the 100k-199k range

(I am waiting for Shadowood's list - if he hasn't sold them all)
