perhaps i just misunderstand the problem here

We can agree Chalkos/ Goroum route does not work.

The only option for a trade fleet leaving Goroum is Gold Bars, or immigrants. You could load some other resource out of your warehouse, but that is dumb because it is counter productive to your goal. There is no scenario that works to bring food into Goroum, if your hideout is there, except manual trade.

My suggestion of letting the fleet depart Goroum empty is the only option that makes sense. It is also the easiest one for developers to accomplish.

It would still handicap Goroum as far as being a viable trade port until plantations, but i would be an option for those who have their hideouts in that port.

Fishing and storing in your warehouse supplies the hideout..

this can easily lead to situation where your fishing fleets gain 100+ danger, if the warehouse becomes full. this could easily happen in a port where goods are only stored into, and nothing would be unloaded

That's only if you neglect to watch your operations. Otherwise it works flawlessly.

Set and forget is not something the game should work towards and is clearly the opposite direction most new features are headed in.

that is true. but there are many casual players. and safe fishing would require large investment into warehouse upgrades. and relocating hideout costs 10-15m, that is equal to cost of hideout or more, im unsure how many newer welcome or manage such expenses. allowing ports to buy goods they produce should be introduced not to make things too hard for some people

If you are fishing to supply a hideout then it is either to construct buildings or supply the GS. In either case you can easily set the appropriate fleets to fish that only supply enough food for gold bar production or when you construct buildings the reserves deplete as is.

Ports will also buy goods from the plantations in their ports. At some point all ports are supposed to have a building type for plantation that produces the port goods and players sell it to the ports stock. Current stocks running out is the first step to having these plantations implemented, this is why production and fertile lands were stopped quite some time ago.

You can't fish in Goroum., at least not fish and sell to market.

Well, on the bright side, even if Goroum ends up deserted then it will only be for a little while. On top of this, it will be the primary port where the first plantations will surely pop up.

So, what seems grim now, is an opportunity for tomorrow.

Like I said, we do not intend to work any magic for Goroum. It will most probably end up without food. Even if plantations manage to come up before this happens, they will still be unable to meet the demand. I cannot rule out entirely a voodoo "airdrop" that will get some extra food in Goroum though as newcomers is a small concern. It will clear out soon though and it will be relative with plantations.

It will be interesting to see how Chalkos NewLand and Goroum all balance out for production once plantations pop.

It will be a real test case.

I am looking forward to it.

When i first started, the first thing i did was set up a large fishing party trade, yes it cost money to upgrade my warehouse, but it was a constant slow pure profit route, and it was just about set and forget.

Fishing is a good way to stock up, but i would like to expand further. What if the ports that produce food are allowed to buy food from fishing fleets only. If you think about it, wouldn't one of the ways these ports would naturally produce food on an island be fishing?

I would think the purchase price would be a moving target depending on current stock to encourage or discourage fishing fleets.
