Laughter is heard as Veera comes in to the tavern, sitting down next to Nelly, who is trembling. Veera just smiles as she speaks.
If my students get themselves killed, then thats their own damn fault. I try to make sure my students know to not overestimate their abilities, and keep out of trouble if they lack the power to defend themselves. And I heavily recommend against blessing my enemies. I would take that as a personal challenge-and believe me when i say i have yet to find a blessing i couldn't break or work around. Everyone and Everything has its weak points.
Carl quickly remarks.
Even you?
Veera laughs.
Even me. I am not a fool, I know I am not invincible, nor am I all knowing or all powerful. I can be tricked, I can be beaten, and I can be killed. Typically, the fools who die the fastest are the ones who, once have power, think themselves invincible or gods- and when you think that, you no longer worry about being attacked or hurt. This almost always leads to your death. King Kiribati, a man you killed Jack, was one who I gave some power to. He thought himself untouchable. He died. Linda, the mage, thought herself untouchable, and lost her mind. As the saying goes, Pride cometh before the fall. And while i am proud of my strength and knowledge, i always remind myself i am not infallible-and that keeps me humble.
