My Top 10 comments for the prey. In no particular order.
1 Some of us are guilty of over fishing.
Some of that is blatent and some is just from not paying attention to who our guild mates raided a few days ago.
Overfishing is hurting the game.
2. The number if hits made on a player depend on several things. How many fleets does a player have. If the raiding player wants to clear after 1 round or try to zero the players gold and take ships. How willing the victims guild mates are to sit idle and watch another member burn. To expensive to clear your guild mate. Ask the player or the guild to comp you.
3 The raiding pool is to small. Admin needs to make an easier route for merchants to grow quickly, generating more merchant player retention. We need better routes for them to grow quickly.
4 If I can raid you with a single sloop.
You need to accept the fact that your unwillingness to invest in any kind of defense will be offset by raid losses.
Or spend some of that profit and toss in a few escorts. At least something that will beat a sloop.
5 Either accept your loss as a cost of doing business, or dont. Firm quick response is best. If you cant do it yourself, hire someone or place a bounty. However unless you have the grit to own up to the bounties or contract, we will never know it was you. So while you might feel like justice was served. It will not likely deter us from choosing you as a target in the future, because there is never just 1 person pissed at us.
6 dont complain about getting raided and how unfair it is to be a merchant. Its only going to encourage certain players to hit you again.
7 Don't declare war when a few anti raid curses will do the job. Openly picking a fight just gives an excuse to keep hitting you.
8 Players who are difficult to raid will be chosen less.
Escorts, multiple spread out routes, changing routes occasionly, timed spaced fleet departures or spaced by fleet setup. All make it harder to raid you than 1 route with 100 unarmed fleets that run in a block and arrive at the same time everyday.
9 learn about pirates. Think its easy, Its not.
It takes a lot of activity, recon, waiting and
Either a lot of planing or a very flexible setup.
You might cast voodoo that is cleared before you ever get a single attack in. Someone else might get there before you. You might run up your danger and then your raid fleet gets stolen.
You dont get to log in once a day, hope you have not been raided, cast party cards and do your banking.
Try to think like a pirate. Maybe it will help you understand why you were picked. Most profitable target.
You have a war fleet they want, you are the easiest to raid, you are never around, your guildmates dont clear, or maybe you have other habits that make you a target.
10 If you got lit up and did not get helped.
Maybe you should figure out why.
Inactive guild, guildmates are to cheap to help you,
Guildmates dont have the resources to help you,
Guildmates don't want to help you because you wont help them when they need it, or offer to comp back the aid they gave you. Or maybe they just dont like you.
Perhaphs another guild is the anwser.
