John and his men quickly enter the church with pistols drawn. The entrance is a scene of pure decimation. A half dozen bodies lie across the floor of the church. As John moves forward, he gives instructions to his men.
Move forward and secure the sacristy and the basement.
A guard pops out from around a column firing a pistol towards John. The shot strikes the man to John's right. John quickly takes aim and returns fire killing the guard. John draws a second pistol while holstering the other and moves toward the altar.
A young man is laying against the altar bleeding. John recognizes him as one of thieves that stole his key. As John gets closer to the altar, another guard rises from behind the altar. Before the guard can fully stand, John fires a shot striking the guard in the face. John pulls a third pistol and again holsters the other pistol.
John's men move to the door to the sacristy and enter. A few shots ring out. The men move down the stairs in the sacristy into the basement clearing the area.
John moves to the young man bleeding at the altar and searches him. Around his neck, John finds his key and rips it from his body. John stands and places his pistol on the altar. John takes out his two fired pistol, reloads them, and then re-holsters them. The young man weakly grabs John's leg.
Please don't let me die. I'm sorry for stealing from you, but I don't want to die like this. I'll give you any information you want.
John looks down at the young man.
While you are injured and bleeding, that wound won't kill you. What exactly do you have that I don't already know?
The young man shows some relief.
The governor. He runs this. We steal anything that may be of value and move it here. Anything that can't be easily sold back at the market, gets moved out to a ship and sent to other ports and sold there. We receive immunity from prosecution and a small stipend based on what is collected.
John aims his pistol at man
Thanks, but as you are ...
The man interrupts.
You said you wouldn't let me die.
John chuckles
You stole from me, and I said the wound wouldn't kill you. I never said I wouldn't.
BOOM!
A shot rings out, the man slumps over dead.
John reloads his pistol and holsters it and calls out to his men.
Ok let's start loading the wagons. We don't have a lot of time before additional guards get here.
