Personally, as long as the war-end meets my objective, I dont give two hoots about some scoreboard saying otherwise. Much like fame, if it matters, go for it, if it dont, ignore it and just play anyway.
This sums up my view. Most wars have objectives with no regard to cost - even in chess, the object is to capture the king. The one with the most pieces on the board isn't the winner; it be the player that reached the objective.
