(Legendary) Turncoat

Do you have an idea for a card ? Do you want a tweak on existing voodoo cards? Perhaps you even want one of them removed? This is where you can post your suggestion.

Assassin is going for about 2.8 Credits on the Market and Thieving Magpies are going for 3.2 Credits. A Bribe goes for 15.6 Credits. Crafting this is actually cost effective; however, you must cast it against another player, which runs risk.

It still gives an existing effect, even if you use different cards in the recipe. This is not what the witch hut should do. The new cards should have NEW effects. A clear - 1 from me.

Not necessarily, the effects don't have to be new. If you look for only new effects, you are limiting the potential of the witch hut, as there are only so many new effects that can be applied to the game. Recipes should at minimum combine effects with better efficiency and optionally create voodoo with new effects.

Well put. And I agree. We do need some new effects, but making older effects more powerful/better is the part of this as well.

Correct. I wish to limit the potential of the witch hut. I do not want it to be able to create "ordinary cards, cheaper". Existing high-priced cards have high prices for a reason. I do not want to replicate these effects with new cards in the witch hut. I think the hut should only have expensive recipes, and powerful effects. The effects may have similarities to existing effects, but in my opinion should do something one could not achieve with any combination of existing cards.

I see no use for this card that cannot already be done with existing cards : A pot of stale cold custard has more uses than this notion and will provide far more fun too.

There are ways to limit the witch hut, but restrictions on effects that are not super powerful is not the way to do so. Restricting the number of recipes a player can hold is a good way to limit the power of the witch hut.

I disagree. For a Bribe to be worth the cost, one must have an extensive amount of officers already. This allows for a lower cost threshold, but at the risk of having to steal the officer from another player.

I laughed by arse off. :D :D :D :D

On account of this card, I agree with Haron on a lot of the, "Already exists" portions of recommended voodoo cards (maybe not the pricing so much) -1.

I like the function of this card, and think it has the potential to create a fight between large merchants.
It would be interesting if it was undercover for players with + - 50 captains or your range. If there was some way to make that functional.
A spy report would tell you if it was possible, however I suspect if I lost a captain I would suspect players that had recently cast spy on me.

As designed I fail to see how this would be powerful enough to qualify as a legendary card. I certainly would not want to dilute the current deck with it.

Lowering the cost threshold works even better for those for whom the high cost of bribes is already worthwhile : one of the limiting factors on fleet sizes is the exponential increase in the cost of officers for them. This card will allow the mega-fleeters to staff their fleets for less cost and at others expense. For those with lower fleet numbers, the cash cost of officers remains superior to this cards cost.
All that remains to make the card worthwhile is the punitive element of reducing an enemies officers : that can already be done.

The custard takes the vote on this one, methinks.
