as a newcomer i know only a few on the list.
those i'have come to respect their retribution prowness are not in the team i voted for.
battles are not won by reacting but through enforcing your opponents to react to you.

one team i scrapped from the beginning, the captain excused himself because he didn't get all the players he'd like to have. while it is an honor to be drafted, those in his team may still feel 'second best' because of that.

vanes pirates team is best known to me. but what does that say? they are visible and in the lime light.
probably the team that is wiped out first because the others band together against them. (get the lion out of the way)

based on what I've learned from all the commentary i truly believe that Kart will stand when the dust settles. (hm, wrong analogy)
Kart created a team to win before he picked the first member. clear roles make for good team play. it's not just the leader who brings a team together, nor skills nor assets. it that and the knowledge of importance of all members in the team. BMW's role seems so small, just do what you are told. yet, BMW is known by Kart to have the nerves to do so. trust in the team before ego.

*Standing up from chair with tankard in hand

I'll not have me honor impuned upon, mates....

Justfication for me team choices...(hmmmmrrrr)

As we now seem to have to brag a bit as to why we picked who we did, and Kart be promotin' his way to the swag, I figure I'll get in line to promote me team for a bit of gold, and tell ye me thinkin' on buildin' me team, and why I believe that if this team e'er entered a storm of cannon and witchcraft, you'll find when the smoke slowly drifts away and the voodoo slag clears from the water, you'll be seein' their banners flyin' where they were when the dance started!

*Takes a slug from his tankard

First off, they not be lone wolves - they be used to takin' part as a team where they be now. I figure they will do so if put together as a team, now as well. They be amiable folk that get along with most blokes. They can work alone or with others, no worries.

Secondly, adversary or ally, they be honorable and chivalrous about it. They llke adventure, and aren't afraid of a few cannon balls and witchdoctors, usually laughin' and chattin' the whole time, while dishin' a dose of the nasties right back.

Thirdly, they don't be seeking fame and glory for the sake of doin' it - they have purpose in their actions, so I figure they will have good reason to so start their war engines. They be level headed and take a perspective of the big picture, the long term view of the situation.

*Goes to table, takes bottle and tops of his tankard, while talking

Now I figure I get to tellin' what needs done and how to do it, I be tyin' their hands - they know what needs done and know if they can do it or not. If it needs done, and they can do it, they'll put their hat in the ring. Together, we get the job done. I like it when an adversary truly doesn't know where the strike be comin' from, and in the case of this team, ye ne'er can tell where or how they be comin' at ye - they be an "unknown variable" as I see it. (Heheheherrrr)

They all be able bodied captains. They can be nasty and brutal when need be, but know when it's time to be nasty and brutal. But they first be respectable Ladies and Gentlemen of Avonmora.

*Takes a long drink from the tankard

Finally, they seem to follow the Old Code of Avonmora - Don't start none, won't be none. Even then, they pick their battles, not worryin' about a slight or bump caused by some other bloke at sea.

*Takes another slug from his tankard, which empties it

That said, that be the thinkin' of me team. They don't need me to be a good team - I be glad to be on it meself -

Now I've said me piece, and me tankard be empty.

*sets tankard on the table

That, mates, be why I picked who I picked. They be the best of the lot when it came me turn to chose.

*Settles back into his chair, reaching again for the near empty rum bottle, and pours a bit into his tankard.

Well done drafters, it was great fun reading your picks and why you chose them! Shadowood you really did a great job organizing and posting for this event. Thank you.

I find it interesting that each team has one strong goldsmith and all have an adequate bank. With so many strong pirates chosen, a sturdy goldsmith would be key as long as you can keep Tom Lowe from skirmishing your gold fleets!

If I found myself on Charles Vane's drafted team I would need my red shirt and brown trousers immediately. Why? Because PhoenixKnight's team would explode instantaneously. He has so many strong pirate personalities in one place that they would either fight among themselves or launch headlong into an attack that would cripple one of the other teams. The first strategy would be keep-you-head-down while that team ran its course. Phoenix does have the absolute strongest gold economy of the draft just due to his first 2 picks. I find it puzzling to see 3 of Avonmora's top traders on the same team as pirates such as Valar, John Avery and MAjesty.

Vane's draft is extremely strong and balanced but I believe Sir Henry Morgan's draft would outlast all the other teams. SHM's draft lacks the excitement of a true pirate like Tom or Juicy or Skyhawk but it makes up for that lack with raw strategy. SHM may have chosen too many traders in his lineup, I'm sure the amazing fighters in Vane's team would love to throw a little chaos into their plans.

Stan's team would surely take over just about every nation with a sizable treasury, those crafty pirates would make for some nasty surprises. Also, RIP whichever port Kar Kar decides to poison.

Kart's team would make some big plays by capitalizing on the incredible amount of experience found in Tom, Roileon and R0nnie. After their first major victory Kart would self-promote until the remaining teams unite and finally put down the growing forum posts. Kart, being a shrewd business man, would emerge richer than ever.

SHM, you get my vote but your team may bore me to death with your unsinkable warships tactic and defensive technologies. Even so, I have known you for many years now and you keep surprising me with your new strategies.

Congrats to all the players who got a shout-out during this event, I hope the draft returns in 6 months and I'm excited to see what new faces earn a place in the Avonmora Fantasy Draft.

Another unashamed plug for Kart's team. I make no apologies for this.

Kart admires Sir Henry and his ability to slam a tankard on the table while talking and standing at the same time. He drafted a very good team despite his lack of planning and is to be congratulated.

It is a shame he arrived at the reasons for his drafting of people after he drafted them instead of having a well laid out plan such as Kart did. Kart planned, executed, and explained his execution as he drafted. This does not take away from his appreciation of the team Sir Henry wound up with as it did turn out nice. Oh, but how much better it could have turned out if he only had the foresight that Kart did. Nice try Sir Henry.

Aye they be good words and reasons why ye captains chose your teams and good ones they are.

I for one feel little explanation be required for my picks as the rest of Avonmora knows what they be capable of both on a team and solo. They not be havin' a problem bandin' together when the prize be one worthwhile!

As pirates they know best how to keep their losses to a minimum and keep what they have taken. While the other teams may band to take out the "lion" there be nothin to take.. once they turn on eachother and one is finally left standin' with all the winnin's that be when Vanes team swoops in for the kill. Battle tired and starved they be easier prey at that point, and the big prize be consolidated for one well planned strike before we slip off into the darkness like ghosts that never be there.
