Ease the Tension

Postby Xepshunall » Sun Dec 30, 2012 5:24 pm

It might be a good idea to have some "Sticky" topics in the Tavern.

The two most obvious should be "Implemented Game Updates" and "Pending Game Updates".

If we could always see what you're doing to improve or protect the integrity of game play in Pirates Glory we could have reason to be loyal and patient.

Pending Game updates should be listed in order of priority and include an estimated time of completion. It could be as vague as "3rd quarter 2013" or "By tomorrow". If you don't update one that is at the top of the list, we'll have reason to believe there were delays or you could include a "notes" column for delays or that you are wanting more player feedback. The notes might be linked to the topic for the specific Pending Game Update so we can quickly get to the topic where you want more player input. At least then we wouldn't be upset because we are preparing ourselves for something that we no longer believe is coming. This should be "Sticky" in the forums and in the Tavern.

Implemented Game Updates you already have. The name is fine whatever it is, but it should be "Sticky" in the forums and in the Tavern. The fact that I can't remember the name is reason enough for my concern and maybe the concern of others.

Trust me, I would like this too. I can;t agree more. Unfortunately, it is fairly difficult to make it happen.

The problem is in design. This titles&nations feature is huge; Yes, we have created a whole platform for missions (We will use this platform for more missions, not necessarily related with nations) but the time issue was not there; We have changed our mind on how this feature should be three times.

Some times, you have to pause and re-evaluate everything; This can really mess up schedule and we have had this happen in 2 features so far:
1)Voodoo System
2)Titles&nation missions

It is really hard to predict the exact time of a huge feature completion. For the rest, we can be more precise I hope. I will try to give you the whereabouts each time, but I feel like I should avoid giving timestamps.

Even google, a worldwide enterprise, it hardly announces anything before hand.

Regarding the implemented game updates, we got changelog. We write up the all things that affect your gameplay.

So, Not even an agreement to create sticky topics in the tavern for CHANGELOG and PENDING CHANGES that you've already disclosed then? This shouldn't be too much to ask. We can understand secret pending changes and uncertainty regarding times for completion of goals but to leave us completely in the dark about something you told us about and which promises to make this game worth staying for if we have cause to believe it is coming at all. That isn't fair to those of us who care. We can tell in you posts if you are excited or troubled about something but you don't seem to want to share this with us where the Nations features are concerned. This serves to leave us disheartened and unfulfilled by Pirates Glory and by you. Even if you tell us that you have overcome some small obstacle and tell us basically what that obstacle was or what hurdle you are working on at the moment, we will know that this feature is still something that you care about as much as we do. You seemed so excited about it when you first decided to include it in your game. We felt that excitement too. The nations features are all that makes it worth staying for. I've done all else that I care to now. What is there for me if not a system that requires constant interactions with other players. I didn't even know that there were enough people in the world worth liking before there was social interaction here. Wales is on the rise and will soon rival Falkland Islands for influence but none of that seems to really matter. The best people I know in the game are gathering in one nation and we might as well not have for all that we know about your progress. A little information goes a long way. You have needs of us and we have needs of you. It's unfair for any of us to only strive toward getting our own needs met. The players need information and you need cash. You have paying customers that know nothing about your progress or problems. We need to hear about delays as much as successes. We should be allowed to feel your satisfactions and your disappointments. We're all in this together whether you look at it that way or not.
Yesterday I gave my all. Today I'll give more. Tomorrow, I'll take back what you took for granted.
