That's very convenient, isn't it? We would prefer a more limited recipe, like the one I gave above. The recipe I gave, will vary on the % return as it will both depend on gold bars value and gold bars sum required.
Let me back this:
Goldsmith Description wrote:Goldsmith
The goldsmith allows you to turn your gold coins into gold bars.Beware, as to be a profitable Goldsmith, it will require an enormous investment of wealth.
The description is more than clear to warn you of what it is required to become profitable. Now, please consider the following points:
Gameplay:
1)The Goldsmith obviously, already provided some profit early on - when the owner constructed it.
2)This profit can be double, one of time (for getting gold bars when there was none for own usage) and one of gold coins (saving gold coins when the gold bars were intended for personal use or gaining gold coins when they were sold to others).
3)You all made any upgrades knowing that there is no way back.
Real case scenario:
4)A building to be constructed needs resources and workers. There are also various other costs included. All these are covered by the gold coins expense.
5)A realistic building demolish, would also cost. Once you demolish a building, the only things that are valuable are metals which are sent for scrap.
6)We can assume that you also sell off some (still, used) machinery, thus the tools inclusion.
Competivity:
7)It was your own strategic selection. With the facts above, you must be ready to face the results of your selection.
8)Game options and features should not be always profitable. A false option should bring to a player losses. This is the nature of games.
9)You are not alone in the game, there are many other players as well. These players have either choosed not to build Hideout buildings yet and others have successfully done it.
Investment:
10)All Hideout buildings, are an investment. Every investment has a risk.
Investment Risk is the only:
11)When you raise a war fleet of about 5 level 10 SoLs, that's about 100M thrown at sea that generate nothing unless used. 100M that can be plundered anytime. However they are needed. Hideout Buildings have no risk other than investment risk. No one can steal your bank or goldsmith, no one can destroy any of them.
I believe these are enough argument to back my case.

For gold bars, port price will be assumed. The return of these resources makes sense as these are all materials that can be scrapped and reused.
I am willing to continue the discussion though.
