You are confusing living with thriving. Those are not the same Leo. If you are doing well enough where you are not starving, have a roof over your head, clean water, then you are doing better than a large portion of people out there and that to me is a damn good life. What more do you want? Fancy tv's? Fancy food? The latest games? New instruments to play music with? If all your necessities are covered, you can still find enjoyment in life, as you will have a full belly, a roof over your head, and should be able to find something fun to do to enjoy life. Play basketball in a park. Go to the library. You are complaining about how having all your necessities covered isn't enough. How bloody entitled are you? There are literally people out there with no homes, starving and with no access to any modern comforts-again, the poorest people in america, are still better off than most. Yet here you are, acting like you need so much more to be happy. Go talk to some folks in poverty in a third world country and tell them about how unfair your life is, you'll be lucky if you make it back here alive.

You're also now shifting your very own arguments. You went from saying 13 bucks an hour can barely cover everything to now saying 70 hours can't even afford rent. If you can't even pay rent while working 70 hours a week, you either need to find a cheaper place to live, or get a better job. You choose to work for what you think is worth it. If you can't get a better paying job, then get more skills to get one. If you live your life expecting people to give you a handout, or whining about how unfair life is, you're never going to thrive. Life's hard. It's unfair. But you make good choices, work hard, and live below your means, you can find yourself in a better place then where you started, barring any bad luck. Then you can help your kids, or other loved ones reach greater heights when you die and you pass on your wealth to them.

70 hours a week right now certainly can afford rent. On our current track though, it is likely to see 70 hours a week needed in 20 or 30 years. Depends on the job and depends if there's some sort of workers revolution that would bring widespread wage increases

so, in other words, you're talking about a potential problem 20-30 years from now, that you have no real way of knowing if it's going to actually happen or not.

Hell let's go ahead and assume, that is going to be the case. Well Nostradamus, you got 20-30 years to prepare for it. What steps are you taking to prepare? Cause I'll tell you this, if I thought things were going to go to complete crap 20-30 years from now, I'd be trying to make sure I'm prepared for that. 20-30 years is quite a good long time to prepare for something. If you're not prepared for this after literal decades, I think that just means you really are not good at handling your money. Or have absolute bad luck.

Hey Meliva can we change the topic from Same Old Stan to Leo’s issues? I think he deserves credit for derailing the topic. Not even about Canada anymore

You mean don't afford because mommy or daddy buys it for the wee baby :D :D :D

I'm not sure when you went to prison because I'm not sure how old you are but 13 dollars when I was a toddler went way further than $13 now. Sure minimum wage is ok for teens who just want a little bit of income to buy stuff or save for something but minimum wage for an adult does not go nearly as far. This could be wrong but the absolute lowest minimum wage I've searched up is $7.25. Usually most people work 8 to 10 hours. 8x7.25= $58
Some states apparently the minimum wage is $15 an hour. 15x8= $120. Now I'm assuming and I could be wrong that more states have their minimum wage at $15. If you worked every single day you would get $840 dollars but at least in Australia almost every employer gives their workers one day off per week to reduce burnout. Not sure if it is the same in America but that would leave you with a wage of $720 per week which is not much considering you will have very little once you pay for groceries, power, gas, water, mortgage or if you rent then just rent. That is not much. But sure technically you can live off it but barely. With a wage like that you won't ever be able to buy a house even if you buy just the essentials and no luxury or recreational things and save all the spare money you have.

Now I have no idea if your story is true because I can't verify myself but I'm going to assume it is truthful. In that case I admire your determination and courage to work hard and provide for your family.

My better half and other family play this game... kinda makes lying a nonissue :D :D :D

Goals... plans to meet those goals... the execution of plans determine your seriousness.
I just turned 53
I hear complaints about a 40 hr week, and I think you aren't serious.
If 1 job doesn't finance your goals, then you get 2.
I had a job at Southern Cast Stone where, 8-9 hours a day, I palletized cinder blocks
Then I clocked out, ate dinner, then clocked back in and spent 9 hours cleaning the 2 mixers with pneumatic chisels
They were huge you climbed inside and had walking room inside them lol
6 days a week
I slept all Sunday and never got to do more than have my sister deposit the check for me.
But I stacked that cheese.
No, I didn't live as Leo thinks one should, but I was never one paycheck from homelessness either..

I don't need to be flashy or show wealth I'm happy to have any old Chevy truck and a great family
I would never be considered to be living according to Leo
But then it saddens me that he will never know happiness with his current state of mind

Nope wait I stand corrected…it was Lachlan…Mack was jealous because he wanted Dman’s attention all to himself. But Lachlan derailed the comment section.

Most of my happiness isn't derived by material possessions. My passions are making music, mountain biking, skiing, martial arts and designing things. They all require material possessions but I am not the type to prefer a flashy car over an old Honda or Toyota, and I enjoy the biking and skiing for the sake of being outside and the adrenaline rush, not because of the equipment I have but because it's genuinely just a great experience. If I couldn't afford those hobbies, well, it would s**k and the truth is I hardly can afford them but I'm lucky to have a good job that pays well and supports my ability to pay for my software, or to help cover bike parts or to pay for my gas so I can go on little vacations. If your whole life is just work work work all the time and you don't have any time for leisure, it doesn't matter how expensive those leisures are. Some people are happy working all the time, but most people aren't. Unless your job is what you love. I love designing things so I'm getting a degree in engineering. Some people aren't as lucky and only like making art or music which there's virtually no market for outside of a select few.

All I hear is jealousy, bitterness, and ignorance

Looking at what makes you happy, it screams me me me.

I would work 100 hours for 1 smile from, say, my granddaughter, my kids, or my better half.
Genuine smiles are a commodity that is becoming rare in our society.
It's not due to the political climate but rather the narcissistic and entitled path our society is taking.
I couldn't imagine having so many hobbies that would divert so many dollars away from those I love.
Art pays well ask Hunter Biden :D :D :D :D

Hey man, I'm enjoying my money while I'm young and don't have a family that depends on me yet. Perhaps I'll pick up your values with age
