At first I was like no way, this is a horrible idea.
But if done correctly perhaps it could create new interest and bring new players, while also giving current players more to explore.

One I played was an Air Sim which would, depending on the world, start in a certain year, restrict routes to 'real world politics', or not,;allow or disallow leasing, have varying economy levels, etc. So whilst the base game was the same, how you then.played could be radically different.
I like the idea of a 'pirate' focused server. No war ship bigger than a frigate, no trade ship bigger than a galleon. Hideouts yes, marinas no. And so on. Now, that could be fun.

In my opinion mirror of this world would kill whats left of the player base here. Why would any new player join this one when they get an easy start in a new game.
However if we had variations of this game that were outside worlds. Or maybe even inside worlds, that were feeders to the main game.
So lets say ( based on the above suggestion )we have Tortuga land of pirates.
A game based in the port of tortuga that is highly pirate focused game play. Game play could be completely different than it is here. Focused on port specific activities. Not only raiding incoming and outgoing fleets, but mischif in the harbor, looting people at the market, going to taverns, armories, and shipwrights for upgrades.
You can play as a new chatacter and play that game independatly or link to your account here. If linked
You are able to migrate some reasources earned there to this game.
A new player there is encoraged to create a linked account to thus game and play both. But it is not required.
This could be done for various ports, each with a unique gameplay experience.
New land traders bay, a merchant centric world.
Vassburg magistraits, world of political rivalries.
Rum lords of akrotri
Treasure hunt st martins
Ect .
All would have lots of references to this world.
Gameplay for a port would involve that port and nearby ports but not the whole world..
These could potentially create interest and feed new player into the main game.
