So this means that someone needs to decide whether to be a Good Samaritan and try to transport people for his nations while other are stealing them and make no profit out of it. I think it needs a little more work.

I do agree with this as T.I. and Black Death are cheaper and far quicker in their effects in population then this.

However, this is a "free" option. Not really free as you sacrifice trade income to transport.

I do however, still love the idea of FARMS (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2339&hilit=Farms)

3.Farms

Every level will increase port's population by 10.000 new citizens per day.
Max levels will be 100
20M cost per level

If we built today a lvl 100 Farm in Akrotiri, which is currently the lowest population port in Avonmora with 6M inhabitants, the following would happen if no other effects were applied:

1st Year:
Total Annual Income for owner through taxes:1,128,000,000
Total Population at day 366:371,000,000

After 2 years:
Total Income:4,446,000,000
Total Population:736,000,000

After 3 years:
Total Annual Income:9,954,000,000
Total Population:1,101,000,000
I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!

Transporting people may have some practical purpose that is not yet part of the game, however,
I have run the numbers on this and must agree voodoo even at its current rates is a much cheaper way to affect population even in small ports.

Farms are a much better way to grow populations.

You are correct.

Farms are within planning.

I changed the numbers to something easier to understand and also upped the capacity so profits in the breaking point we used, to be better than a typical trade fleet. After all, these are funds that should pass through the nation coffers.

So we now have 2 persons per crate (previously proposed was 1)

So, a player with 200 LMMs, will be able to move 576k people per day to a single port.
The whole Egyptian fleet (if combined together) has a cargo space of about 400k. This means if they want, they will be able to move about 10M pop a day.

To be sincere, I started with 1 because it is always better to buff than nerf later. If a change is needed here in the future, it will most probably be a nerf (ie 1.5 pop per crate) whereas with 1st suggestion it would 100% be a buff (1.5 or 2). Going in the middle is a case of course but perhaps we might avoid revision here anyway, for some time at the very least.

I do like the Farms idea.

Transporting people is good if you caste TI's in a port holding 400m and transport them to a port holding 50m. Makes the impact of card more valuable.

Mostly, it creates options. There is a port with 21M population right now. The population of this port is low for a long time, if you can consider 21M low, that is.

With this feature, a SINGLE player can add half a million population per day. In a month, this is 15M. Whereas Transport Immigrants would add 210k per cast, about half from what the trade fleets of a typical advanced player can offer. It's super better and it will always be better at least till 50M of population. Then other factors will play a role.

Skirmish would show lost cargo and lead to hostilities if they are discovered doing so.

I think there would be great risk to this.

Skirmish will reveal the thieves. 9gc worth per crate skirmished (4.5gc per person, they just collect their valuables, its a cruel world) you will be able to tell if the cargo was population as there is no other base value priced at 9gc.

Hard to see such hostilities though. Not before Nations diplomacy.
