Pirates Glory - A Love Story
Pirates Glory’s Taverns have been awash for many years with the stories of the latest encounters between two of its most notorious pirates. No one seems to recall how the feud started - did they ever sail together, were they ever friends. Finally one of our correspondents managed to track them down to their separate hideaways.

Where do I begin?
To tell the story of how great a love can be
The sweet love story that is older than the sea
The simple truth about the love she brings to me
Where do I start?
Anne Bonny
Aah you wish to know my relationship with Banger.
Our history goes back to a time where I was but a young girl no more than 8 in a cruel and harsh world. I used to scavenge the dock's day and night looking for scraps, the odd gold coin or rarely on a good day some work for a warm meal.
It was a cold and stormy winter's morning and my stomach ached from days of hunger when I noticed a ship being loaded for sail, I quickly scurried behind some barrels as my body shivered from the cold. I found a barrel full of apples and reached in and grabbed one when a shadow appeared over me,
I looked up to find a young man gangly but well tanned towering over me. I froze in fear and our eyes locked before a voice boomed from behind him "what are you doing? Get moving you scally wag".
He looked at the apple in my hand and then back at me before a ever so slight smile as he called back to his quartermaster "aye aye, Sir " and hoisted the barrel from beside me onto his back keeping me hidden. Aye.That's when I first saw him.
Over the next few years I got to know him. The brief time he would spend in port we would laugh and play on the beach, he was always kind to me in those days, made sure I had something to eat and as time went on the odd trinket from his travels from far away lands like Pania or some place named Vaasburg.
While I would get lost in the tales of his adventures I remember the scent of cheap rum and stale tobacco. I had heard rumors of a noble background that was never spoken of by him, nor did it matter.
I looked out at the water every day for when he would return and as the years went on it turned into a longing, a yearning that was a new sense for me and I had watched him grow into a large chiseled man, rippling with muscles.
A bronzed shine as the sun reflected the sweat from his body as he would load and unload the ship lifting 3 barrels of gunpowder at a time on one arm while laughing and rough housing with his fellow crew.
I was around 16 or so and we had made plans to meet at midnight under the light of the moon to start my first adventure, our adventure, but alas fate had other plans.
As I was making my way back down to the dock I remember passing a couple of swill-belly's bickering something about an enraged advisor who they were going to tell how they had lost a bunch of immigrants before I was snatched away and thrown into a carriage filled with other people.
We were destined to work on some big plantation in some far away land. It wasn't the ship journey I had imagined in my dreams
I heard tales of Banger's adventures from the other workers - some said he was a fearsome pirate and some said that he was a noble man of grace and poise,I knew I had to get out
By chance some days later I saw a boat passing by and I couldn't stand it any more, I ran into the water and began to swim fast.
I swam and swam until my arms ached and felt heavier than anchors and I could no longer lift them out of the water, I gasped and choked on the sea as I began to sink under and things got dark with the deep cold of the ocean.
I felt a firm grasp around my ankle and before I knew it, I was on a ship gasping for air being held upside down as I heard a man call out to his crew and proclaim " I, Lord Harlock, think I shall keep this one". I felt sick. Dropped face first onto the deck only to be met by a mop and bucket and told to start swabbing.
I soon found out this Captain was known by many names and would become known by many more in the years to come. He taught me to take what I need and we sailed together following the tale's in the tavern, always one step behind Banger, always just out of reach.
I had heard rumors of cunning Mercenaries in the taverns around Avonmora and decided my best chance was to seek out their counsel in an attempt to track Banger down and we could finally meet again.
At last for what seemed like chance but highly organized opportunity, I had met a man from the shadow's who led me on a ghostly ship to a island shrouded in mist and introduced me to another older man (who, by the way made me call him daddy in exchange for the information I sought).
I quickly gathered my crew and set sail for Tortuga but to my surprise there he was, leading a fleet, proudly flying the UK flag
I could see him through my spy glass and he was now looking back at me. He now wore an eye patch that I found more dashing then deterring, I ran up on the bow spreader as my heart raced. I waved. His ship dropped sail as I approached.
Banger's ship began to swing to port exposing the side of his vessel and a brief silence before a roar of cannon fire - the likes I had never heard before erupted from his ship. Smoke and splinters filled the air. I was frozen once again staring at this man,
I am caught in a silence of disbelief and shock, the bow spreader begins to break apart and I fall into the ocean. My crew laugh as they fish me out and we escape the vicious onslaught - getting lucky with a current as we limp away.
I had to save face in front of my crew but I had to speak with Banger all the more.
I went to his dry docks and waited all night but he didn't show so as the sun began to rise I took a ship he had lying around and sailed off into the distance looking behind me, but he never came.
I went back night after night and would wait until dawn before taking another ship and watching for him to come after me. I just wanted to hear his voice.
I took ship after ship waiting for him hoping that we would get the chance to meet again and share our tale of how we would come to meet but it seemed I was of little concern to a man of his calibre.
So when I heard war was brewing and Banger would be caught in the middle I sailed with the Merc's. Throughout the war I would still spend what time I could at his dry dock in hope. But as time passed he upped his security and would only leave ships that would have had my crew laugh at me if I had returned to them with those.
It was as if he didn't want me around anymore.
My heart grew cold and hard through bloodshed, heartache and the wrath of time herself. It was the dying days of the war before our ship's sailed close enough again to see each other face to face - both of us standing on opposing decks and I saw it, that same ever so slight smile I first saw as a young girl in the rain all those years ago.
The difference now is it filled me with a fury that I had never felt before and I let fire with all I had as I screamed a cry that made the sirens jealous and the Leviathans gasp.
That war has long passed and I see that after all this time it is only now that he comes back looking for what was his. A trait to be admired, well overdue and it makes me wonder maybe he never forgot me after all.
Maybe It's time to revisit the docks one day soon.
Banger’s version
So I am honestly not even entirely sure of the backstory between myself and Anne Bonny. Part of my hatred for her purely lies in her existence in MERC. I hate Merc. I hate everything about Merc and everyone in Merc. She has obviously moved on from Merc, at least for the time being, but her history there as well as I am sure the possibility of return doesn't help my opinion of her.
The main thing that inevitably caused the most disdain from me toward her was she essentially griefed me with voodoo. Like to the point it should have been considered a violation of the "griefing" rule. This generally resulted in her getting ships from me. And because of the firepower of Merc it was virtually impossible to retaliate against her which just made me seethe even more.
We actually were in a guild together for a brief time when Vane tried to start his Navy guild that he promptly abandoned which made for an interesting experience. We actually had some reasonable conversations during that time but there was definitely still bad blood at least on my end.
Recently, I was able to catch her lit up and low on coin for some reason. This allowed me to take a couple of capital fleets from her which was a bit of poetic justice.
I think Anne is a very cunning player and if we were to ever find ourselves aligned, I believe Avonmora would be in serious danger.
