Normal practice when dealing with an offending post is to edit then add a comment, in red text, giving a reason and any further action taken.

A total deletion of the post itself, without any comment, is not common.

So, to aid your comprehension my comment has two meanings:

Can I not comment on the thread?

Can a moderator not comment on a post deletion?

An answer on either would be helpful.

I would assume that your comment was removed as it was off topic. This isn't the Tavern, Suggestions, or UoH. This is a Announcement Thread. Off-topic commentary can be removed without warning.

Is that what you were conveying? Disapproval? Maybe you should have wrote something more than just "-1. Move to Archive". Clarifying your position instead of posting a phrase usually seen on a suggestion thread would probably have gone a long way into your comment staying. As it was written, the post was off-topic, thus removed.

Actually, it was in honour of Feniks being on the team. I thought it would be an amusing reference. (I won a SotL off him for most amusing comment about the dev team : that comment is now off-topic when talking about the dev team, apparently.)

Feniks has been on the team for some time. And if that were the case, why didn't you just lead with that instead of "Can we take comments expressing disapproval of the content of the original post are 'off-topic' ?"

Seems like you are just fishing for a reason to try and derail topics.
