It has got rather tedious : from my seat in the gallery it looks like the groundlings will keep tossing rotten fruit until the curtain closes then demand a refund as they never got to see the whole show. Everyones a critic....

Gonna weigh in here. Not my draft, but here is my view point.

First - My apologies to the PG community for not running the Draft on schedule like I did before. For those who know me, my IRL time has gotten a bit busier over the last year and my time spent on the game is not what it was a few years back. I am sorry for this, as I can see now that many really looked forward to the draft that I created.

Second - Thank you to the PromoTeam for stepping up and restarting the draft again. It can be time consuming to run, but a lot of fun too!

Teach reached out to me not to long ago asking about restarting it. I gave my advice, shared my spreadsheets and agreed to be the banker for donations/payouts. I was sad to hear the DTT couldn't make the draft. I feel in haste the draft was started without thinking through how running it with only 4 captains would change the outcome. Looking back, I think we all see a simple delayed start to find a 5th would have been best. So here we are now...

My two cents is each captain picks 10 regular picks and 2 Rookie rounds. 12 each. This will be a total of 48 sailor. Add 4 Captains for a total of 52.
In the past drafts all but one had 5 teams of 10. 50 players. Plus 5 Captains. 55 Total.

3 players different from the past draft. This wont skew the "prize" pool to much. I will send over my suggestions on Payouts to the PromoTeam tomorrow. It will be fair for all. I have always ran the draft as fair as I possibly could in the past. Once the PromoTeam agrees, this info will be shared with everyone.

For reference all previous drafts were paid out like this.
For the "Distribute How We See Fit" donations, I used a simple formula in the past.
1st place - 37% of pot
2nd place - 25% of pot
3rd place - 17.5% of pot
4th place - 12.5% of pot
5th place - 8% of pot

Don't stop the draft. Keep going. My advice is 12 rounds each.
Just my opinion.

I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!

So, I guess I will take this lull in the squall as an opportunity to weigh in on the situation at hand.
I realize this edition of PG Fantasy Draft is not going as planned. I have heard that they're some who feel a might disappointed with the way this years contest is progressing. I regret that we scan the view of such a tumultuous sea. I would have commented on this matter sooner, had I not been so busy trying to sort out the mess that you see before you.
It was very unfortunate that Damn the Torpedos was forced to withdraw from the contest at the last minute. Seriously, I was notified of this, by him, less than an hour before the Draft was scheduled to begin. Literally, DTT stated that he was in the ER of a hospital, waiting to be seen, and that he would not be able to participate in the Draft. In this era of Covid craziness, one has to respect a claim like that. I asked if he would like to appoint a surrogate and got no reply. The options were assessed and it was a game time decision to proceed. The alternative was to postpone the selections indefinitely. A lot of time and effort was put into organizing all this and I made every effort to provide for its success.
I want to thank Shadowood and Jose Gasparila for their help in organizing the Fantasy Draft this year.
I could not have done it without them.
And for those of you who may still be upset, you are welcome to produce next years Draft. :arr

Honestly, I would have proffered to have put a pause on the start when DTT dropped and replaced him with a different Captain or waited until he could rejoin. Once started, I was simply trying to go with the flow.

Looking back, I should have said no to starting.

Now I just want it over.

Sad, but part of this is my fault for not thinking clearly at the start and asking for a pause.

Sorry to all.
