[Review] Lets make diplomacy more important!

We are always looking for ways to improve the game. In fact, since the beginning player suggestions had played a major part in game design.

We read all suggestions.

I like the Idea of expanding diplomacy. I agree it needs more meat. I just disagree with this approach

here is why. Most marry based on wife/husbands beauty rating. Exquisite Is the obvious choice. You have no control over which ports the exquisite resides.

What If at some future point all the exquisite daughters/princes were in ports controlled by the same nation. That nation declares war on your nation.

The issue is there is no negative for the nation of the wife/husband. Diplomacy is a two way street. Your wife /Husband is NPC, not another player. The Negatives are one sided.

This is a -1 for me based on the above although I do agree diplomacy needs development

Although mistresses and wives deserve their own thread to sort out their own merits of rewards, there could be a small role for them to play on the diplomatic side of things as well. Ports and blockades should affect this topic as I mentioned in another thread , EoTC must play a part as well. Diplomacy status between nations also need more than a descriptive line in the diplomatic page. Actions are needed as well or, at least enforceable rules for the diplomatic statuses between nations from war to allied

Maybe the governor of the port itself could function as the npc governor we currently all have... and the daughter of that governor gets more diplomatic foothold the more guys or girls the daughter/son is married to. Not every pirate and lady had only one spouse :)

I am new in the game, so i don't know every feature nor i read everything about the game and its suggestions.

But i think that diplomacy should remain something related to players and not to NPCs, diplomacy is even in reality something unpredictable. If you put NPCs actions according to war or peace, those will be predictable and so it will be easy to bypass mechanics or to earn "not so legal" money by abusing mechanics. As well, it is too easy to change nationality ! changing nationality should bring many and many disadvantages, maybe with a exceptions for newborns who are ... let's say 30 days young. They can change nationality for free.

About diplomacy i would add that if nation A is enemy with B, A can't access to port of B and viceversa. while with alliance between C and D, C and D have an increase of trade if they trade in their ports.
OF COURSE not to exagerrate, because as far as i see there is a focus on some 5-10 nationalities that everyone takes to receive money and advatnages, nobody will take a nationality if he is alone. If we put too many limits, some ultra powerful nationalities will hold all the ports and others won't be able to trade (or they could all become pirates and attacking all together the monopolizing nations which has every port)

About diplomacy i still don't understand why there is a division: nationality and guild
I am in a guild but everyone has different nationalities. In case of war ... do i follow the guild or the nation ? i think this is a bit weird and could be cjanged, so even newborns understand to follow their guild OR their nation, and not following both at the same time.
What i would see in this case is that guilds and nations "merge", i mean that a guild will have 100% of members belonging to nationality A, or a mix of nationality A and B (allies), but guilds can't anymore have members who are enemies.
So in case of war, guilds will have to follow diplomacy of their nation and so fight alongside their own nation.

I repeat that i am new, maybe i said only stupid things but it is what i saw in the game in my 3 days game. have a nice day.

Most? :o:
On the other hand, now there's no real reason to have one specific Port among the three producing the same good. Controling the best ones would spicy things up in Port holding. Besides giving Diplomacy a bit of the importance she deserves.

The way it is:
- (at some point during the first days of the account) Guildmates, where're the best wives/husbands?
- Here, here and here.
- Ok then. (casts a bunch of Rings/Necklaces and gets married, and all those cards are now useless forever - except for cheap selling or the occasional Gris Gris)

So much fun.
No, really.
Stay tuned on Radio Image Bermuda!

Are you a new player? Contact me in game and I'll cast a helping voodoo. Consider this like a sort of "tutorial mission".
