Fame penalty for inactivity

Postby Xepshunall » Sun Apr 08, 2012 10:44 pm

I am not looking to put anyone out of the game for a week of inactivity but I think that a 1 to 2 percent per day penalty would keep them active. I wouldn't impose it after 24 hours but after each subsequent 24 hour period and then I would reset the timer right after the player makes a new move. Of course there would have to be a way to verify that the player is playing and not just auto refreshing a page to show as active.. You already have activity script active in guilds.

Do you remember Clark Gable, Gary Cooper, Errol Flynn, Jack Lemmon, or Hal Riddle? They were all famous. Now nobody knows them. Why? Because they are not acting.

Some days I dont get a chance to check the game. I think 24 hours is too short for casual players. The game seems to take away inactive player's fame by them getting plundered to 24 fame after a few Fugative from Justice cards.

Indeed, Dungeness is right; if you are fat (in fame) and inactive, you won't last long !!! (crows are waiting for ya!)
There is also on more thing you lose when you are inactive: Voodoo cards!
Finally, if you are inactive for too long (7 days) your trade routes also pause.

If you refer to the known loophole with putting all your ships out of fleet, we are already working a counter measure for this. If you have anything to add on this, feel free to comment.

That only works if the player hasn't removed every ship from every fleet and every crew member and cannon from every ship. There is no access to such a player.

Thanks :D

All you need is minimum requirement of 1 fleet for each 5 ships and to let a fleet that is over 24 hours old be available for attacking whether or not it has any ships, with a minimum gold payoff.

Keep in mind that this might make extra work in scripting fleet management and will likely create a bug to be worked out.

In case anyone missed it, here is the forthcoming changes, where point 1) and 2) fight off the specific issue:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=177

Implementation is delayed on purpose so everyone can prepare accordingly but possibly we will have them either tomorrow or Monday (Easter coming and we will pause development for 3 days).
