As far as the numbers for flagship or a complete proposal...... JessicA's OP was approved as written then archived later.

I based my entire impression of flagship on that. Even up to the plantation rollout, that was the accepted and approved proposal. Somehow between Last July and December, that got archived and approval rescinded with no real explanation as to why.

The recent proposal was complete with numbers and mechanics, but most everyone blew holes in it as well. I am simply treating dogger the same as flagship was treated.

The numbers have been proposed twice for flagship. Don't remember your support then.

I proposed the Dogger to do what it said on the tin : fish.
I gave numbers and reasons.

When I see the same for the pirate flagship I can say yeah or nay... but right now all I hear is 'Where is it?' And precious little of what 'it' actually is.

"IT" was to be a ship named by the Pirate controlling it. One that would have special traits and characteristics once named to aid in the pirates raiding as a tool much like plantations, port taxes, banks and even your proposed dogger is to merchants... It was all clearly defined until the it became as I recall calling it "Bastardized and watered down" just like your loved fishing ship and niche has been...

You still have no valid argument until the other side actually gains something..

So.. the only difference between what you describe above and my 'simplified flagship' proposal is that non-pirates also got to name a flagship.. but pirates got extra special pirate only traits on theirs.

Thats the real issue..isnt it. That others get something, even though lesser, too??

Aye.. and my 'simplified fllagship' proposal was what then.. well it only gave pirates special extra traits... how could anyone think that in anyway supported the idea of pirates gaining more in the way of a special ship.. ferk me... its a dialogue with the deaf.

No..its worse than that.. its debating the Nature of Belief with two half-drunk Jesuits.

Your simplified flagship diluted the initial concept just as was done with fishing.

Instead of a pirate only ship with traits designed to raid, it was reduced to a ship all can use with weak bonuses called traits.

The fishing concept, instead of an elite ship specified to the task, it was reduced to all ships doing the deed at a weak percentage.

I disagree on a pirate only flagship. Im all for a pirate flagship being the strongest type of flagship that a player can own. I had this convo with feniks earlier in or dev chat room.

Flagship needs its unique perks. Especially for pirates ONLY. The perks for nation players should be a cliche imo rather than similar to the pirate perks.

Your comparison doesn't make sense as when fishing first came out, all ships could participate and fishing made incredible amounts of income. The formula was updated to the current formula nerfing the production rates. The dogger was suggested, approved (it was approved when suggested as there wasn't a team to decide and the proposer was the administrator) and postponed from implementation.

The dogger is a ship for fishing and fishing only. Fishing is available for all to use, regardless of playing style or the flag you fly. If you choose not to fish, that is your choice. From the dogger, I would like to see further development into industries such as fishing. Having the ship is the starting point. From it a multitude of paths can be taken on the development of Fishing. There has to be a starting point and I see the dogger as that point.

I'm not going to step in to the arguments for/against the Dogger as I already express my position. This included the purchase of fishing licences from ports.
Now, the argument has been made that all one has to do is build numerous fleets of Doggers, sit back and watch the cash roll in while only logging in every few days to scoop up the cash.

I would like to propose if fishing licences purchased were considered Global Events and published, then the fisher takes their chances on getting raided as it would be public info that fishing Might be happening in listed port.

I think that would balance out the risk or lack of it in this case of dedicated fishers.

That same thing was done with party trading. Im not worried about a counter for sitting back. After all, they fish up food fast so a fugi and hn will have devastating effects to the fleets.

Overall a +1 from me. Not a real strong ship, but more specialized. I like where it is at.
