SMOG has been half-assed locked down. I have Time Spiraled him enough to the point that he can't harm me, but not enough that he can't play in other parts of the game besides Ship Trading.

I commandeered some High Level LMM's and am selling them on the market for a profit.

I got bored so I just stole 4 SOTL and a LF from Wally. Head to the Ship Market for some cheap SOTL. :pirateflag

This has really re-shed some light on a few aspect of the game.
- Once any large ships are stolen, sold, sunk, parked... There is no incentive to cast/waste expensive voodoo going after "lesser" ships.
- Guild Battles are better. More targets, more action. We need more of these.
- More focus on Sea Battles in general is a must
- Port Battles that include Blockades and Forts will aid immensely in the need for larger warships selling the seas
- Better in game NPC battles and/or Quests to help bring out big ships.
- Better incentives for PvP battles

There is more, but my hope is that we can get some of these things this year. I am running out of things to do and making up events to occupy my time should NOT be necessary.

Aye..back in tge day I often went afrer big fleets but it does become a bore after a while : as you say..once you got them... it seemed petty to chase down the lesser fleets : unless it was a calculated de-fleet to make a point. But then what?

I too very much agree. We need the ability to create artificial shortages of goods in various ports to incite reasons to fight. Either guild or nation and EVERYONE is dependent on resources to greater or lesser extent.

This recent improvement in the development of the profession of Merchant in game has been a wonderful improvement to the game and the hugest kudos to CJ for that feature.

It has opened up, as i said, the merchant profession and can clearly define it as such and one does not have to be a 'Trader] as well to enjoy.

But now, we need a naval method to deny that privilege and force merchants, traders and trade dependent nations to fight for what they need to survive and prosper.

Port Battles and Blockades certainly has had my vote for some time now.
Also out if it may develop a special place/need for a Flagship.

I do agree with you, except on the point of resources. Right now there's already a shortage of many resources-aside from wood and cotton and to a lesser degree iron. Plantations need to be worked on a bit more or given more time to develop to provide the ports with sufficient resources before we go and allow blockades that could make said resources drop even further. Or keep it at zero in some cases.

I agree there are resource shortages but they are not created artificially.
Also, take a look at the available acreage left to till or develop and you will see most acreage is being rented out.

Yes, Nations can increase their acreage but that is painfully slow process. It will be years before nations max out.
The shortage will never be met with the current model when you look at the averages of production/acre and the differences between a well operating plant and a plant ranked say...fiftieth in production/acre.
The spread is not that big...

It also doesn't help that some nations apparently see no need for increasing acres for their ports. And you can see that most of the ports that still have acres available are the ones with resources already incredibly high-wood and cotton mainly.

Also, if you factor in that a properly run, efficient plant is suppose to turn out 105 ppa that is not much more than Lods or Grim is making currently. I use those guys as they are responsible for very large part of industry production.

I am afraid this interesting topic has veered too far from the original topic so on that, I'll quit and give apologies for the derailment

**WAR UPDATE**

After days of locking down SMOG with Time Spirals, Black List and Confuse; Shadowood has struck again! He believes he caught SMOG unawares once more and was able to steal his 2nd best fleet since the fighting began. 1 SOTL, 1 LF, 2 Flag Galleons. I am told these ships are listed on the market now for very good prices!!

I have been assured by Shadowood that he will continue with his war efforts until the promised date of no less then 1 week. But at that time, all hostilities toward SMOG will cease immediately and he will rejoin VUDU for some bigger and better events to come!

(Saturday April 20th Shadowood will stop his attacks)
I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!
