We read all suggestions.

Gold Smith - Smelting Pot Expansion

Postby Shadowood » Mon Mar 18, 2019 5:24 am

I have been thinking a bit on how the mechanics of the gold smith works. One thing that has always "bugged" me is the gold that is melted is pulled straight from the players Purse.

I would like to suggest that we implement a "Smelting Pot" where a player Deposits gold coin into the pot to be melted down in the smith. The Gold Coin that is deposited can not be withdrawn. It stays in the pot to be melted no matter what. If the player runs out of materials then the gold just stays put.

Thoughts?

Should there be a cap on the amount of coin that is held to melt? If so should the amount of gold be dependent on the level of gold smith.
I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!

I actually like the GC from your purse to be melted down as it makes having a steady purse easier. As far as cutting production or making it more difficult to produce, atm the total amount of GB a smelter can produce is already regulated at the top end of production abilities.

At first reading I'm going to say neg one to this but will look again with a different mindset in a few hours to see if it strikes me as bad as the first reading ;)

Not having a Gold Smith puts me at a disadvantage on this suggestion.

I see and think I understand both Shadowood and Stan's POV; however, I think that even with the production limitation, that limitation assumes that you aren't unloading your GB faster than your production. If you have a plantation(s), you can eat GBs rather quickly. Which in turn would mean you may not reach that limit, thus putting a drain on your purse.

A smelting pot seems logical. I can place a set amount of gold coin to smelt and make gold bars. Once that amount empties, it stops making GB until I add more coin. That is how it should work. It shouldn't just auto take until the limit is reached.

I don't see a reason to have a limit to the amount you can put in to smelt. It only smelts if you have room to make the GBs and as you said, once deposited it can't be pulled back out except as a GB. So it doesn't become a pseudo storage.
