No Dez, you can have super shot OR high armor OR high maneuverability. Not all three. It inherently makes all sorts of combinations available but there will always be a counter.
It becomes more like Rock/Paper/Scissors... not less.

Lets say someone boosted their Cannon to +15 at the expense of accuracy or armor.
Someone with cannon at lvl 8 but high scanting may take him out. or maybe not ?

Perhaps not the best example as they are diametrically opposing attributes but you get the picture.
There can be no ship built that cannot be defeated by someone else ship providing they have the proper counter attributes. Now if you throw in EXP points somehow, you will get a winner in my 'qualifications'
I don't really care and will not likely build a Flag as its more of the "same old" with the exception of the EXP and personally... just fails to excite me.

With the humblest of apologies at being truthful. Just don't design something nobody wants for the sake of getting it done. I still think the time for Flagships is not quite here yet but of it is being insistent upon, at least make it interesting for most and pay heed to what has been posted. These idea's are the player base wishes.

From that, I don't think I have anything more constructive to say other than "Have At It"

While im not on the team to vote, i still have not seen enough in this design to make me want to own a flagship. Perhaps spend time on another feature in hopes to garner player interest and keep things progressive? Im past wanting this for fear it will never measure up to what it was expected to be some years ago.

a ship placed in a war fleet that answers every attack against trade ships for a two ended trade route seems as close to a super ship as you are going to get
i dont think the concern is whether or not there is a super ship
i think the only issue is who the devs want to have one
damages or butthurt received in the posting of these words is solely yours and yours alone

I echo Vane and Feniks sentiment and as it stands today, I am a static -1 unless there happens to be a major overhaul.

In more desperation than hope : are we just plain over-complicating the issue?

Proposal :

Each player may nominate a flag-ship : it may be any ship in their fleet at sea. It may not be docked in Marina or it will lose its flag status permanently.

Flag status will be free in the first instance : subsequent nominations or replacements will cost 50 credits per instance.

Flag status will be lost upon plundering and the ship will revert to standard condition.

Upon being captured an anchievement will be generated and announced in World Events.

Upon being nominated the owner may freely choose ONE additional trait to be bestowed ipon the flag. This may not duplicate any current trait held by the vessel.

In addition : Those flying the Black Flag of Piracy will gain a further special Trait : 'Elite Rummager'

To 'rummage' is to search a ship for treasure or contraband. Thus such a trait enables the Pirate to locate hidden wealth and valuables with the effect of doubling the plunder taken from the targets purse. This will apply to PVP and skirmish only sepereate to any bonuses applied for techs or scrap for lost levels.

I think thats simple enough yet gives all flag owners a handy bonus : gives pirates a boost : recognises the value of a flagship taken in battle : doesnt produce an Over-powered super-ship : creates a credit-sinker : doesnt create a pool of ex-flags with superior abilities.
