I think the devs probably wanted the players to have something special, like a single real flagship, that would be more of a symbol than actual firepower.
When they let people capture them and accumulate more than one, the "specialness" went away, and that's what I meant by saying the system needed reworking.

OFC if they want to add more ships in the game, then the MOW needs to lose it's value, and become more of a liability(which it already is) than asset.

Well, now I can clearly see the many sides to this issue.

Id like to suggest a few other things that I have thought of.

Perhaps (spinning off what I had thought of earlier), the "mission" i mentioned could be made to be supremely difficult (think final NPC mission for marquess or harder) and have multiple targets of the same, if not harder difficulty. OR perhaps, we should make a new ship, similar to the SoL, and make it non plunderable (but count towards a fleet loss), or tradeable. Powerful, but not too much.

Again, tell me what you think, im open to ideas.

I agree with Shaydo, a MoW is supposed to be an elite ship so why would a crew be willing to let it fall into enemy hands. I like the idea about a MoW being scuttled instead of captured. I also like the idea of only one MoW being allowed in a fleet. This game is already so dependent on voodoo cards that having more than one MoW in a fleet makes it, for the most part, only attack-able if you use devastating voodoo first. The two edged sword is this though, buying credits to purchase voodoo cards may be the only way to keep this game functioning. On the other hand, I have been involved in hobbies where only the people who spent the most money were competitive and it always turns into a spending war that drives participants who can't keep up away. The hobby ultimately suffers from reduced participation and thus ultimately less revenues because of a smaller spending pool. It is a fine line to walk, I wish the developers well in their efforts.

How about another solution?
Refresh the mission to allow people another shot at a MOW, and add a restriction to captured ones, after a month or week they sail away, gone forever.

That way, it can still be captured, it's still worth the effort and the damage is greatly reduced. To make those MOW fleets only, people will have to work a lot harder.

As a side note, there are other ways to make money by selling credits. Some other games for instance allow the player to change some graphics, like how the town looks on the world map for a small cost.For us, customizing ships or fleets or creating your own country or guild.
The difference being in making people buy credits because they want to, not because they need the voodoo(though I've got to say, the whole voodoo thing, paid or not, is incredible and unique to this game).

-1 I think the rarity is fine as is. Players go inactive, and stolen MOW's usually end up on the ship market, there is not really a shortage.

I feel the MoW will never work except as a trophy ship. I'm not sure there is any fix which can protect it any better or make it easier to capture or replace than now.
Personally I dont bother with them. If I take one I sell it straight off.. my marina space is better used for more practical and thus more valuable vessels.
But if the notion is to keep MoWs at sea and in play as warships then there are a few ideas on that.
1/ Make MoWs uncapturable. Yep, a big move but think on it. It stays in its fleet and can be hit for plunder reducing the purse so all other fleets come into play for capture. It can still be sunk by damage/sink chance so it could be salvaged by a lucky soul.
2/ make MoWs unsellable : no access to ship market or shipwright. It stays afloat and in fleet until sunk.
3/ make MoWs unable to enter a marina. They stay out and in play at all times.

So... net result is more MoWs at sea... in fact ALL MoWs stay at sea until sunk.
The only way to get another... or a second is to salvage it.. and even then you are stuck with it!

If MOW's had some good abilities in Port blockades or just in battle, then that could change. The best way to keep them on the water imo is to make players Want to use them. It wouldn't really be too hard to make them very desirable for certain things.

No doubt many do WANT to use them but none want to lose them cos of its status as a trophy ship. Its not just its coin value and rarity : its a pride thing too if not more so than just coin.
Dont make them totally immune to loss but give them some value as a usable warship then the issue gets resolved all ways.
