This is a bit unrealistic but we have decided to re-enable this as it ends up in fustrating gameplay to achieve. Especially if your fleet is on a trade route, it is very bothersome to end trade route, buy cannons and then re-enable trade route.

The same thing will happen for Hire Crew action in the future. For now it will remain as it is because Hire Crew action is dependable on Port influence. We will make it so that when you are hiring crew for a fleet in travel, it will take in mind last port it visited. However this requires some extra coding and was not possible today. It will be possible soon.

Generally, the only reason we won't keep to realism for anything in this game, is whenever this leads to fustrating gameplay.

Why don't you just set it so that you can hire crew or buy cannons during auto trade, but it doesn't do it till the ship reaches port?
That way you could queue what you want without ending the trade route, and the ship would just auto (hire/fire/buy/sell) when it reaches port and continue it's journey. Also instead of it using the last port visited it would be the port you are going to.

Sounds more realistic but a lot more troublesome for both developers and players. There are voodoo cards affecting crew hiring, influence and gold!

For example, if you set to prepay the hiring fee, you will also have to precaution the case that you get a voodoo till you get to port. If you set to pay at port, you may for some reason, end up with less money - so you will need options to either cancel or put on hold. I can think of more collisions, which means that the developing time for such will be serious.

So we will just allow to hire anywhere for now and when we got fewer things on the to-do list and more time, we can think of it again.

We need to prioritize things based on time needed to develop - what adds to the game. To get what I mean, here is a simple shortlist with things on schedule (thats just a simple partial copy paste from my ideas notepad):

Simple Ones:
-New card ability: Hidden Caster
-Replace rotten food with inside man
-Port gossip for battles
-romance ranking
-Show Country page (total population, total power, total influence)

Big Ones:
-country missions/titles/control/council/king/more
-treasure hunt feature
-Dispel informative message - Parrot quest/feature
-Informer/Oracle quest - Guild feature to see voodoo on guild members
-blockade feature
-escort/guard feature
more..

the list goes on and it is huge while there are also website improvement tasks in it, like google login, facebook login, graphics improvements and more.

And all these and more should finish till late April.

Well you could make it simple: Pay upfront, and if something happens so you can't buy when you get to port you get a refund. I do agree however that this isn't really an issuse and it makes sense to wait if it'll be too much trouble to program ;)

Fame from romantic endeavors is capped at 2 million... that is a HUGE number. You're right it means the very top players don't need to spend as many turns to maintain their fame generation.

BUT I think the bigger question is why is 1 player able to make 2 million fame PER DAY from non-PVP activities while every other player in the game is braving the ocean to complete trade routes and fight fleets and only making a few thousand per day.
Right now the best way to make fame and not lose it for top players is to NOT TRADE at all and only have 1 fleet of Ships of the Line. That way you don't have fleets in danger of being attacked. I don't think that is very fun gameplay. It seems like really famous pirates should be famous for plundering and growing wealth and not just sitting in port with the ladies.

Don't get me wrong, I think gameplay is GREAT while you're building up fleets and finding good trade routes and occasionally picking fights with players. It's just the highest-fame-ranking gameplay that just changed with the addition of daughters.

We may further limit it to the near future. I agree it is a big amount. However, keep in mind that a cap means that it limits the maximum possible earnings. Fame given from the daughters is % of your total fame so this cap is only making things better for now. The problem is more with the mass fame that some players have and not with the feature itself.

Eventually the game itself will take care of it as the higher the fame a player has, the bigger the target he becomes. Unless he manages to intimidate all the throne pretenders .

Whoever does this, will be at top in the short run but he will fall (for sure) in the long run.

Capt Dung.

I think most of youre point in that reply was adressed to me. Let me remind you, that i too had a trading fleet. If i was smart enough to hide it for the moment when voodoo came out good for me. When the time come hopefully. i'll return on with my tradding if it worth my time. As for the ranking. I wasn't first.. You were. I got there by plunding peoples like you, and i still do. I've been plunding 5 target, ''ALL in the top10'' for the past 3-4week. Then YES!! normally ill stop for a fews days to get my danger ranking down.. Big deal?

I don't know why you are complaining about the romantic fame suddently.. if you would still be the ranking leader you wouldn't be. And don't BS me on that. But then again, look at the ranking. You will see weekly change.. Like it always have been for the past 3-4weeks. And i can tell you right now that most of those change will be due to an action done by myself or by my Guild [SYN]. I figured the romantic fame % formula, and it's quite low. You're fame % is not big you might say? Get more fame! I was barely gaining any when i was around 10mil, but then again yes! Due to my high fame ranking i get more. Isen't just normal that i get more?. If i managed to get this many fame by plunding peoples then good for me. All those romantic points is well deserved..
Geez..

Like i said when you first started sending me voodoo curse. You are free to attack me when you want.. Everyone is... But...

Don't you dare think, that there will be no agressive respond coming from my side.

I beleve you already had a good taste of what i can do. Also, i can tell you that none of the top player is ''just sitting back'' to get romantic fame points. Since i can see them daily on my plunder screen.

So, on a side note. How's everyone days going?

And Capt Jack, what do you have in mind for the treasure hunt? I just had an epiphany last night about an wicked treasures maps suggestion!

Just spotted something while reviewing the changelog.

*January 21, 2012
*Right now the only way to get credits is to buy them. Soon we will add two more ways:
*1 credit per 12 hours (if you login) which will sum up to 62 credits per month.

When is this going to be available?
