The admiral just points out in the distance

Well, first we hope and pray we get reports soon. Knowledge of our enemy will be very vital in making preparations. It would be awful if we invest time and energy into one defense that won't be needed, when another would have been a better use of time. But until we get a report, for now we make general preparations. Set up a few choke points, lay some traps in vital areas, set up barricades in other areas to try to steer the enemy hordes into the chokepoints, etc. If we are truly lucky, these men will make the blunder of thinking they have won the battle already. And when they come into the port expecting us to kneel, they will be all the more shocked when we blast them with muskets and cannon fire.

Jack asks

How will the reports be delivered? How many pieces of artillery do we have?

The man just points to the sky

by carrier pidgeon. As for artillery, we got about 50 cannons, fully crewed. Already have them setting up a few encampements in key places, but im ready to bark an order to shift them around if need be. I want to try to block off most paths into the center of town, and only leave a few routes-then we can focus our numbers in those key points, and make chokepoints and those areas will be slaughter zones.

The admiral thinks for a moment, until he shrugs and just replies

Ill let you make that call. I feel like if I have a force that has no correlation with me or my forces helping out, that will add to the potential shock factor, and will work out in our favor.

The admiral gives a sly grin as he jokes

Or it backfires, but since you were in charge of your own positioning, then the blunder of this battle falls on you, and my legacy is safe. But in all seriousness, I trust your judgement. And I think luck will be on our side today.

Jack says

Well sir, we can't choose to put ourselves anywhere if we're not sure of what places there are to put ourselves.

The admiral laughs

Your a smart looking young lad, try to figure it out. Look at the maps we have, look at my markings, and look at routes. See if any potential routes exist that I overlooked. If you don't see any, station yourselves where you think the thick of it will be, or where you think you will be the most useful. It's important for up and coming strategists to learn these things, and what better way then life and death situations? But if you want some advice, well, I would recommend one of 3 places. The mansion to the north, to fortify it as a last bastion, the sewers below, to station men to serve as guerilla warfare operatives during the battle, or the beach head to the southeast, where most of the enemy forces will probably land. Remember lad, examine everything, and plan well.

The admiral checks the message, hums a bit and nods.

Well, it seems they are coming in with full force. Ships appear to be moving to attempt to blockade the port, and a large land force is preparing to come in. Based on the land I assume they would come in from the southeast. So, I will be focusing most of my forces on that front, but keep a good force on the western side. A small regiment will be put into the sewers to serve as guerilla operatives.

Jack asks:

Would it be helpful for us to be inside the buildings firing on any that march in?
