Vune comes in to the bar with the rest of her family and just sits next to Jack and Carl. After talking to them about what all happened Emily turns to Vune

Is there any way we can help those slaves out? Your against slavery are you not?

Vune shrugs

Eh, I was enslaved for a short amount of time before escaping a very long time ago, but i don't go around fighting slavers over it. But since Jack is going to help us and we are helping him with Edward and Eric, I suppose i can help with this. I can see about having the guild make a whole bunch of cheap golems, and trade them for the slaves and a slight bit of gold. We profit from it, the port gets better workers, and the slaves can be sent home, where honestly they will probably just be captured and enslaved again, but that's out of our hands by then.

But, i will also be wanting a payment from Jack in exchange. 5 Million gold should do it, and Ill give the order to the guild to get to work. Sound fair?

Good, consider it done then. Well I have places to be, but a quick little update for you- Edward's got the Dag working for him now, and Rhena is helping him too now. He's also probably going to try to recruit the Spanish now that you made them mad to hit you as well. They seem to be recruiting old enemies of yours.

Vune takes out a small rune and looks at it as she begins to create a portal to leave

Anyway i kept my promise-this island was protected until you came back, but now i got a present to deliver to a new friend, and some old friends i should visit. Hope you all survive the impending attacks.

Vune leaves without explaining further, while Emily whispers to Veera

Did she tell you anything about an impending attack.

Veera shakes her head

No, she didn't, I imagine she's laughing right now about it. Our family has an awful habit of screwing with others like this. I think it's genetic. Or perhaps she's referring to Edward's plans. I recommend being on guard though.

[Jack Teach]

Jack gets up and walks away to the fort. He orders all batteries, all ships, all pirates to be ready for an oncoming attack

After several hours of nothing happening, a single ship begins to sail straight toward the island, It is a cutter, and seems to be unmanned and has no cannons on it either. It flies a flag with a single large middle finger on it, and the words shoot me if you dare you Jack you coward. Emily just chuckles at the flag as one of the gunners shouts to Jack

You wanna fire at it and sink it? Or should we?

Jack looks Emily

Any ideas on what it is? Can you analyze it?

Emily examines it intently while chanting a little before she looks to Jack as the ship speeds closer to the island-about 10 minutes before it reaches.

Well it doesn't seem to be magical in any way, I think it's just another attempt at probing the island, while also antagonizing you. I did notice 2 interesting things though. It's filled with quite a lot of explosives, and only a single person is on the ship in the hold with the explosives. So I imagine it's meant to explode and damage the island.

The nearby gunner shouts to Jack once more

We got cannons loaded, would you like to do the honor to fire upon it? Or should we leave it be.

[Jack Teach]

Jack looks to the gunner

Run her out.

the 32 pound cannon runs out

Level the gun.

The cannon is leveled. Jack puts the slow match on the hole. The cannon lets out a massive roar and the cutter explodes harming nothing

Small bits of the cutter rain out from the large explosion, shortly later a corpse washes ashore, blackened and chained up unrecognizable, with a small metal box tucked into the chains, Emily opens it up and finds a letter, upon reading it she steps back in horror from the corpse before collapsing and begins weeping. Veera confused takes and reads the letter and gasps before looking at the corpse sadly. Carl takes the letter, and upon remembering he can't read hands it to Jack and asks him to read it for him, it reads

"decided to send Brian back to you guys. Put in him the hold of a cutter, chained him up and sent him your way. Wanted to see if I could trick you into blowing your friend up, so if your reading this with a corpse, you know who it belongs to now. Or if you didn't blow up the ship and Brian is perfectly fine, well then congrats.

Signed Edward."

Veera helps Emily up and has Zephyra take her home before standing next to Jack.

You know, i wasn't all that invested in stopping him before, but now it's rather personal. As soon as your ready to go face him let me know, Ill bring the whole clan and everything we got against this guy and his masters.

[Jack Teach]

Jack puts his head in his hands and sobs
