Feniks i know what your saying, but the point is the direction you want to go. Quick and fast? You sacrifice health and happieness for a longer period and need to tie up your trade fleets for longer. Or slow and steady, optimize production on fewer workers, less need to transport, and trade can resume.

Production is ultimately defined by acreage, not workers. If they are un happy, less work, need more. If they are happy, work more, need less. Two directions to take. I bet one can make a plantation with 250-500k workers produce the same as a plantation with 2-3mill workers provided both have the same acreage available.

The other bits that play a role is just how crowded we make our workers. A 1500 acre plantation using 1000 of those acres on building is going to make production and happieness / health worse if you ask me. I believe there is a hidden ideal percentage of land to distribute to each building type, its actually reflected well when you monitor the time until completion clock when adjusting alotted acres.

I know that. I have 2140 acres.

and you would lose that bet because i have 8 different plantations of different sizes and different size workforces. The reason i did this was so I could experiment.

2140 acres 2.2 mill
1500 acres 1.4 mill
1320 acres
500 acres

etc etc

Actually I could care less about production right now. That is the least of my worries. You must misunderstand what I am saying.

#1 I want to know why at 0 happiness and 0 health in one port(which i did purposely because of comments by CJ) why doesn't the happiness and health rise as new workers arrive?

#2 How can we make any determination on upgrades and their affects if we can not see any progress at all to know where we stand currently.

#3 How can we calculate the costs of any upgrades if we can't see progress.

#4 Why do you pay for a "construction permit" before you even secure the land to build on?

All of these are valid questions. I know it will take time. I never said I wanted "immediate gratification" in fact i told CJ in Slack just the opposite.

Yes, I have said this over and over again in both slack and here. I know it is an "investment" that will not pay off immediately.

It just seems to me everyone is asking the exact same questions. Phoenixknight just asked a question I have heard probably 10 times already.

I know i have heard the questions about health and happiness more than 10 times. That is why i purposely zeroed them both out to try and find an answer.

"If you ask me".... well I asked CJ that exact question and he inferred that my current population was very close to optimal for the size plantation I have.... meaning around 600k workers for every 500 acres.

And actually it isn't "the clock" that determines the ideal allocation of acres. That was a conversatio n we had with CJ as well in Slack. I found the "sweet spot" and he said I was very close with my allocation.

This is the time to be asking questions, finding bugs and making suggestions. That is all I am trying to do here.

I enjoyed the conversation by the way. It is still too early to get the whole concept but I must say that the progress you all have been doing, is very good.

I agree on the feedback. You surely need this feedback system and I promised already. All your questions will help us make it.

We had to deals with issues that were even more pressing than this so far. We still need time. This feature could only be implemented as beta: it is nearly impossible to launch it fully right away and if we did, it would not and up as good as it is currently progressing.

So, we will need to have some patience. Anot only for new implementation though, as current state is a complete feature. We need to have patience to see how the simulation unfolds with time.

Then, we will implement all needed add-ons to make it truly great as we want and the games needs this feature, for which so much work has been done, to succeed.

Always remember, Rome was not built in one day.
