Jack nods

Quite possibly yes. However, I can tell you now.

Jack looks to the pale Englishman

Meet me on the beach in five minutes. Bring no weapons, I'll have them provided.

Carl just shrugs and goes out, Zephyra quickly following behind him before heading straight to the lair to talk with Veera about what she overheard. Carl decides to go watch the duel, along with a few others. Veera while talking to Zephyra just scoffs at her

Who cares what a bunch of stupid pirates are doing. Their war doesn't concern us.

Zeph just scoffs back

But we don't know who they are warring against. What if its us mages? Or one of our allies?

Veera bowls over laughing

Oh, if it was us, I am fairly certain we would win that little war. If it's an ally, well we can provide aid. They probably just aim to fight a nation or port. They have no reason to go after us, and again, if they did, it would be a very bloody event. We have plans and procedures for wars you know. Honestly id be more worried about the pope declaring war on us then some pirate lords.

Meanwhile Carl sits on the beach waiting for the duel. He seems to be criticizing a nearby pirate about how this isn't a proper duel in any sense of the word, and how not a damn thing was done properly. The pirate just lets him complain as they wait.

Both combatants have arrived, two smallswords are brought out, as well as two pistols. A pirate stands between the two men, both have removed their coats. Each is given a sword and pistol. The pirate says:

Both parties have agreed to solve their issues via combat, until one is either dead or one cries for quarter, they wil fight.

Each is given a pistol and sword.

Carl just shakes his head as he continues talking to the pirate next to him quietly, looking very upset.

Bloody hell, this is by far the worst duel procedure I have ever seen, has no one taught anyone here a damn thing about the code duello? Neither side have a second, their dueling with 2 weapons instead of one which is just ludicrous and I don't see a bloody doctor or surgeon nearby. Hell might as well fight in a mud pit naked like animals at this point if they think this is what a duel is meant to be.

Side note, 25 coins on Jack.

The pirate shrugs and shakes on It as they watch, though Carl continues mumbling to the pirate about how this is a complete farce of a duel.

The pirate responds

Duels among pirates don't follow the code duelo, pirates fire their pistols, then they go for their swords if that doesn't settle it. It was set down by captain Roberts in 1650.

Each man walks away and then turns around, each sticks his smallsword in the sand. They each aim their pistols. The pirate moderating the duel says

One, two, three fire!

Both small caliber pistols go off. Both grunt an stumble a little, neither look to be in serious danger.

Leoric walks down to the beach and sits besides Carl
So what did I miss, how come these two are trying to kill each other.

Anyways, 50 coins on Jack

The two men hand their pistols over to a man beside them and pull their thin smallswords out of the sand. Jack pulls off his cravat, and tosses it aside, grinning ear to ear. The pale Englishman does the same, he also tosses his brown wig away, revealing a rather nice head of black hair beneath. The two men come closer, each holds their free hand behind their back, the two swords touch and they wait for the word.

Carl simply scoffs

The code duello is a better way of handling dules then this. Though that reminds me, didn't roberts set it to fight til first blood, not to the death or til one yields like they are doing? If your going to abandon the code duello for a different code, then you should at least adhere to that code properly. Otherwise why have a code at all.

Regardless, come on Jack. Got some coins on you.

The pirate says

It can be other no quarter or first blood. But in this case, the object appears to be "inflict the most damage possible without killing the other ******, and make him yield." This ain't normal.

the moderator shouts:

Commence!

The two men commence, thrusting and parrying at each other, their swords a blur

Carl still scoffs

Regardless, downright foolish in my opinion to toss out a great system like the code duello just for a inferior code. But maybe im just an old stick in the mud. Say, do the 2 of them already have a replacement for pirate lord should either die in this fight? Seems like something they should have done just in case. I'd imagine Jack would pick his son, but im no pirate so i don't know if someone his age would be accepted.

Carl watches the fight, finished with his rant.
