You have to set the acreage. You don't have to set the acreage for every new batch of workers you get. They will be automatically distributed based on your setting.

It gives you no benefit, to constantly save it.
There is a reason to save it though, even with same settings as doing so will give you the picture in how your workers will be distributed. Then, you can change acres to see how the game distributes workers. These are all legit moves.

Here is an example to understand:
------------------------------------------
A fleet brings in 1200 workers. You have a total of 10,000 workers now.

If you go to infrastructure right now, you will see 8,800 allocated workers.
The 1,200 that just arrived, will not show up there.

However, if you click on manage acres and save, then they will appear.
If you do this to see how they will distribute -> Then it is legit.
If you do this thinking that you need to do it to update- > Wrong. The game will update them on its own and you gain no benefit in doing this manually.

Is there a chance you can tell us more on how distribution of workers to each Facility works?

Eg. How much Stewards does one acres provide?

It is pretty confusing to have 1 acre of Guard House and end up with 5000 guards.
Unless the game auto sets those numbers, then, I suggest giving people the ability to set the number of workers for each Facility, max based on size of facility acres.

Unless you already talked about this somewhere and I haven't seen it yet.

Edit,

Each Acre of Bath can contain 600 workers.
Each Acre of Housing can contain 240 workers.

The others are still unclear since I do not have the number of population to test them cleanly yet.

Updates so far:
-Assign Acres page interface has been improved to make life of everyone easier.
-Fixed an issue with workers distribution that could fit too many workers at 1 acre, at some cases.
-Fixed an issue that prevented plantations owners from setting Warehouse Capacity higher than 80%
-Unlocked Tobacco ports - You can now start plantations there

Why do the guards take so much workers? I put 0.5% acres and still nearly 60% of the workers went there
