Emily thinks for a moment before speaking again

We should wait for another day or 2 before we launch our attack. Maybe we can get a few more people to join. If not, I think we have enough of a force to beat Neapolis. I have a few spies and informants stationed in the ports, if anything happens we will know pretty quick.

Emily nods as she stands up.

Yeah. Well im gonna go and relax in my lair. Zephyra you can stay with me while your here. Could use the company honestly. If anyone else comes to join our little force, you guys can deal with them.

Emily and Zephyra leave, while Brian and Carl both get a ale and start drinking as they wait. Brian looks outside at the setting sun before speaking.

Well, 2 days of relaxing don't sound too bad. Hopefully this battle won't be too bloody. But if nothing else, should be exciting.

Jack nods

Aye, it'll be nice. But I'm guessing that these battles will be quite bloody, but it will be exciting I'll give you thought.

Agnar leans back

They're gathering a militia... We should honestly give them a chance to surrender, and a few during the fights. I doubt they can match a combat experienced crew for example.

Jack chuckles

You'd be surprised mate, these bounty hunters aren't incompetent fools. I have a couple stories involving them if you'd to hear them.

Agnar leans forward

Tell me they hired enough to kill quite a few thousand combat experienced men from these ships. I never said we wouldn't have a loss. But tell me the stories.

Jack leans over the table as well, flashing a sideways grin

It was 1705, ten years ago, I used the great strait as a prowling ground, hunting for large merchantmen. I terrorized shipping up and down the strait. I attacked twenty, over a period of a couple weeks. I knew I should have made myself scarce, but I couldn't help myself, there were too many rich prizes. I brought shipping in that area to a complete halt. Eventually I spied two moderately heavy frigates, three sloops of war, and two jackass frigates. At the time, my fleet was two sloops, two brigs, a good sized frigate and a jackass frigate that was once a corvette. I saw they were flying mercinary colors. I had the fleet set sail in a loose collection towards the enemy, with a captured merchant ship near the front. I lit it on fire, and sent it at the enemy ships, it collided with the two frigates and heavily damaged the heavy frigate but left the jackass frigate unharmed. A three hour long sea battle then ensued. It was a hard fight, but we managed to take half the fleet as a prize and send the other half limping away. I sent a warning to the governor that if he did that again, I'd come after him. He never did. But I did anyway.

Jack laughs

Agnar smiles

Sounds like fun, actually. I've had a thing for storing ships away and sailing my Heartfree for 1 on 1 ship battles. But, I'd never let my 2nd rate go alone. So, she's guarded by 2 heavy frigates.

Brian chuckles.

Don't underestimate a talented merc, or a determined milita. I have seen some rather amazing battles that should have been quite one sided. The worst thing you can do in a battle is go in thinking you can't lose. That makes you sloppy, and careless- and when you lose a battle that should have been a easy victory your never going to live it down.

That's how me and Ellen won most of our battles and fights back when we sailed around in a cutter. Everyone would always assume "it's just a young nun, and one man-easy target". Then when we won, they never told a soul-to embarrasing to admit, so more and more would fall into that trap. Thinking we were pushover's when really we were pretty tough. Granted we weren't fools of course, if we saw a battle that we knew we could never win we avoided it. I recall once we were pursued by a fully crewed man of war, and several frigates. Scariest sight i ever saw at the time.
