Jack nods.

With these three frigates we are more than a match for the enemy and their pop-guns.

The dag that was swimming towards them is shot dead coming up the side.

Lightning strikes near one of the ships as Zephyra smiles and stands up laughing

Now I remember, Teran is a nature spirit who causes massive storms.

Her smile fades as she realizes what this means and looks to a massive storm beginning to form.

oh, so that's why they left so suddenly.

She shouts to Jack

Um, we may want to start leaving as fast as possible-Teran is a LITERAL force of nature on the waters-but if we can get on land, we will be safe.

Zephyra begins using huge gale force winds into the sails, following the Dag, as the storm follows close behind. Brian notices quite a few large looking items in the water ahead, and shouts to Jack

Those may be mines- Can you get some men to shoot them before we hit them?

Jack grimaces

We may be able to shoot them, but it'll be hard.

The bow chasers are run out and fired, it takes several shots but they manage to destroy the mines.

We'll have to land somewhere different than the enemy vessels so that we don't get murdered when they land on shore.

Despite Zephyra's magic the storm is gaining on the ships. Brian shouts to her

Can you push us faster?

She shouts back

If I put too much force into the winds, it could tear the sails-then we will really be in trouble.

She continues pushing the ships, turning to the south, the storm, eventually stops chasing them and just lingers. She breathes a sigh of relief as she goes to Jack.

Well, that was a close one. Though i wonder why the storm stopped chasing us.

Carl points south and shouts

Maybe on account of that bird.

To the south, off in the distance, lies a giant bird-easily the biggest bird ever seen. It's feet is in the ocean, and its heads reaches to the clouds above. A single feather from this bird could easily be the size of a frigate. Many of the men, look absolutely horrified as the Bird gazes down at them. Zephyra looks at it in amazement as she shouts to Jack and the priest in wonder

Holy crap, do you guys know what that is? I think it's the Ziz! It has to be!

The men look back where the storm is still raging nearby, and then to the Bird and ask Jack nervously

Where should we go?

Michael sketches the bird quickly. Jack looks at the bird and at the says:

We'll sail west for awhile, then, we'll turn southeast. I can't see through this deluge, is the bird blocking the wind? Also Zephyra avast with the extra wind for now I don't want us to sail into the bird.

Zephyra quickly turns and shouts worried

No, we can't go south anymore. The Ziz, is blocking winds, but not from the north. Further south of the Ziz are rumored to be winds of such strength and power, that if the Ziz wasn't standing there with its wings outstretched blocking them, the very earth itself wouldn't be able to resist them. It's quite the majestic beast-so massive too, I heard that once an axe was dropped next to the Ziz's feat in that water it's standing in, and it took 7 years for it to reach the bottom.

Just as Leviathan is king of the ocean, Behemoth king of the land, The Ziz is king of the skies. But since it spends all its time here, blocking the winds, not many get the chance to see or hear of it.

She looks to the west.

Our best bet is to head west, then try to land somewhere north. The Ziz won't attack us or hurt us. So long as we don't fire at it. Hell we could sail right up to its feet and be safe-it's pretty friendly.

Jack bites his lip sucks in through his teeth and then sighs and shakes his head

I can't believe...how the hell could you tell if the axe took that long to reach the bottom? And though that thing is big, I don't know if that's to scale.

Fr. Michael face-palms and says

The Royal society will laugh at me if I tell them this, a giant bloody bird that blocks wind, good gracious.

Jack looks to his men.

Turn about west!

The ship turns west as do the others.

That thing with a bird sounds a bit far fetched, even for you. No offense or anything

Its an actual bird from jewish mythology-which in it, the story stated that when some travelers wished to bathe near its feet, thinking the waters had to be shallow, a heavenly voice warned them about how deep it was-that a handaxe took 7 years to reach the bottom. I didn't make any of this up myself, its straight from jewish mythology. Though I also agree it's far fetched.

The Ziz Gazes down at them looking insulted, and speaks in a beautiful song like voice

You mock my duty, let us see if you mock it when I abandon it.

It's left wing, goes down, and moments later, a gale unlike any ever seen blasts through, the sails are torn to shreds in an instant, the men flung through the air as the water parts and the ships begin being blown away, Zephyra tries to push back with winds of her own, but is blasted back, as the ships wood begins getting torn apart by the winds the Ziz raises its wing back up, blocking it. Before speaking once more.

Do not insult the duty I was given by the great creator again. I stand against these winds unyielding every day and night, without rest to protect ants like you. Be thankful for it.

that bird couldn't possibly hear them speaking, they're not even close too it. And you didn't say anything about it being able to speak to humans if I'm not mistaken

If I had to stop and give complete details on every thing encountered that would both leave no surprises, and take a metric crap ton of time and writing. Also, its a giant mythical bird made by god-its hearing and intelligence is pretty good.
