The food is brought in, a large platter of roast beef, bread, and chicken. Jack looks out the stern window
.

Bloody doldrums, they'll go on for two days at least.

Zephyra shrugs

Eh, gives more people a chance to join us if they hurry. If it lasts too long though i can use a bit of magic and make wind. That's one type of magic im actually great at-rather fitting given my name.

She gets a plate of food, and begins eating and drinking. Brian and Carl doing the same.

Jack shakes his head

Not necessary, we can wait.

Fr O'Conner gets up, says a prayer of thanks, then sits back down. Jack gestures to the three priests

Zephyra, I'd like you to meet Fr Michael, Fr. Raymond, and Fr. William Buadern. They're hear to do missionary work.

She nods and greets them.

Mother told me about Michael, far as priests go she says she doesn't hate him. Which is a pretty big compliment given her usual opinion of priests and religious officials. But I wish you luck in your missionary work on this journey-just be respectful of whatever culture and beliefs the natives have while you do so. Not every missionary tends to do so.

Michael laughs

Don't worry my dear, we won't be anything like the Spanish conquistadors, and thank you.

Jack takes a large amount of food, so much that's it's nearly a pile. Jack looks to Zephyra

Probably should have asked this earlier, but how do we not make the same mistake that we did before? With the "island"?

Zephyra laughs.

You mean the Aspidochelone? We won't run into it again-mother said only one exists-though it moves once in a while. But if your paranoid then just send a single man onto the islands we find, light a fire, and dart back. It's when the beast feels fire that it knows sailors are on its back-and that's when it sinks, drowns the man and eats them. The beast occasionally lets out a very sweet scent to lure men and fish to it if it gets hungry. Though mother said another beast does something similar but I can't remember what she's referring to. But if my mother gives a warning, then its something very serious.

Jack nods and looks outside again. The wind slowly comes back, jack looks outside aghast.

Never seen that before..

A sailor bangs on the cabin door, jack angrily gets up and opens the door. The sailor looks frightened.

Sir, strange sail sighted.

Jack looks confused.

What?

He looks to the others and smiles weakly.

Please enjoy yourselves for a minute.

He quickly walks out onto the quarterdeck

Wha-is that...is that a galley?

Zephyra, Brian and Carl rush out as well, and look to what Jack is looking at. Zephyra calls to Jack

What's going on? Are we under attack?

Jack hands Brian the spyglass. He sees a galley-style vessel, a mix of a galleon and galley, with three masts and great lateen sails. From what Brian can see, whether it carries guns or not is unclear. Jack looks to the others.

We are going to lay ourselves alongside that vessel, perhaps communicate with her. I'm not sure what it's intentions are, but if it's got no guns, which is highly likely, they'll not have a chance if they attack.

Zephyra nods.

Well mother said she would get more ships to come out, maybe its another explorer. But yeah lets go see what they are up to.

Brian and Carl board their brig and stand ready as Zephyra decides to stay with Jack as they approach the vessel, mumbling to herself what spells she should be prepared to use just in case.
