Alkobra and tiger dispute

Anything related to in-game diplomacy (and beyond) can be brought here.
Guild news and announcements, war declarations, recruitment, military service offerings, etc.

Flaming is expected here. If you are easily offended, avoid this thread all together.

Maybe there is a translation issue here.

I sure didn't take Dez's "flame" that way at all.

It was directed at a specific person, not a generalization disparaging a group.

No, with respect, you are mistaken. In my opinion, calling somebody a waste of oxygen for actions done in a game is uncalled for.

How can someone be a waste of oxygen?

It's kind of like saying that somebody doesn't deserve to live. I don't think that's what dez meant to convey, but that's what he said in a way

In most cases i would agree 100% with this, but in this case i tend to agree with Dez.

Opinions are guided by actions and history of actions. In this case, the insult is deserved in my own humble opinion......... which is worth no more than anyone else's opinion.

Ok, you could argue that some other thing could be called for, but saying someone shouldn't live (which is effect what that phrase means) seems a bit much.

Wow...... most people now would not have survived when I grew up. Is the UoH forum now to become a "safe space"?

People are now hyper sensitive and I think society is worse off because of it, not better off.

"sticks and stone"..... and such has now been replaced with "safe spaces" and "cry closets". I am sorry, the real world is not "safe" and does not give a damn about whether or not your personal feelings were hurt. Words are just that. Opinions are just that.

You calling Dez out for "words" and "opinions" is a form of censorship. It is the first step to trying to control thought and is a technique used by cults/groups to indoctrinate someones belief system.

.......... you see ....... I can make these giant leaps and claim false associations as well.

So, you mean, if you survived your "sticks and stone" childhood, it gives you the right to bully kids on forum?

First off, I'm pretty sure saying someone is "a waste of oxygen" is in a way, saying that they are a waste of human life, and that they are worthless. So no, there is no false accusation. He most likely meant it JUST as an insult, but even so, its uncalled for. Secondly, I don't understand how this makes you bring up safe spaces, dez most certainly has the right to say what he likes, but I also have the right to call out something that I believe is a vile and pointlessly venomous thing to say. I'm not hurt at what dez said, I am shocked that somebody who calls himself an adult would say something so vile so someone who did something he didn't like in a game. I'm also interested in hearing why you think this is acceptable

No ...... it means that this "kid" ..... if that is what he is ...... is not the one complaining at all about it. The supposed grown ups are the ones complaining. It also means that the only one taking this as bullying is the supposed grown ups.

Listen.... I am old enough that i have grandchildren in primary school. I see it everyday that we as a society "Over" protect. We are at the extremes on both sides. The bullying has gotten 10-fold worse than when I was a kid ..... and the protection mentality has gone extreme to the other direction.

Hence, kids reactions are to the extremes as well. On one side they resort to violence, on the other they do not develop the social or emotional skills to deal with society and the real world as adults.

Studies have shown that an over protective approach is just as damaging as any bullying.

And trust me.... Dez comment is mild compared to some of the comments made by this "kid".
