If you need heavy guns, I could pull up a 74 gun ship of the line, and coat the sides with chains, making it nearly invincible, will move very slow though

Too unrealistic, and historically impossible

The ship or the chains?

Both. I realize I've done similar things, but I'd prefer if we kept some historical realism here

USS Kersarge, they used chains cables to protect it.

...Kearsarge had been given added protection for her vital machinery by chain cable mounted in three separate, vertical tiers along her port and starboard midsection...

Pirates never used sotl. Now again, I admit that I'm guilty of this as well, but for this rp I would a prefer something on a more historically accurate terms. And whatever battle your looking up, this doesn't verify it, because it's unheard of for most battles.

EDIT:And that was 1861, during the golden age of piracy, this never happened. Ships had NO machinery .

Doesnt matter. You didn't, but I'd still prefer something smaller, the most common navy vessel was a sixth rate, and why would a rear admiral want to help in a pirate raid? Or any other type of non-piratical captain for that matter

The old man nods to Jack

Me name is Capt'n WhiteBeard. Very fine ships ye have there. I have a rated 44-gun Frigate, but I've modified it to carry 56-guns comprising of a mix of 24-pounder long guns and 32 and 42-pounder carronades.

Jack looks astonished

Excellent, now that's a fine vessel if I've ever heard of one. How'd you take her?
