LOL

Will labor requirements and output be structured like goldsmith? Will the cost per hour be available similar to goldsmith production screen?

I think that it should be in this way. Display per hour but charge per 10 minutes. In this way, there will be no burden during update and it can be matched with fleets trading to keep the hand around the same levels ( I am giving out free tactical advice here, the perks for reading my posts, yes).

I would still prefer an addon feature where you would be able to use the preferred banks instead. This should be optional though and should also come with a corruption fee (as you will be given a tactical advantage). (/me avoids a mug coming this way) But yes, this can be added later...

Which means dear DezNutz that things are a way worse than you thought, at least for me.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep track of when EVERY acre has been purchased? Not to pay it, payment will be daily as all logistics after all, but when to release it for the rest, or reprice it as you mention.

This is what I am currently working on. EVERY acre you rent, you will rent it for 24hours. Not a day! For 24 hours. You will pay it daily but you will reserve it for 24hours. During which, none will be able to take it from you. But once these 24 hours pass... acres will be either repriced up to your max bid or lost to another (should such demand exist).

I am not sure if I explained all you wanted to know. If not, shoot CJ! He has to reply after all. But seriously, you now know how sick he is :P

I understand scripting and programming. Every 24 hours, especially when using various start points, is insane. It's also too short of a time. The bidding concept seems unnecessarily complex. I get the point that making it completely manual for governors is too much, but there are probably simpler methods than doing a complex bidding system.

Furthermore, All it would take is someone to figure the point at which they would no longer make money and set their max bid to that. Who is going to outbid them? You can outbid them for no profit or loss.

Could't the bidding process be set up similar to ship market/ card market? It would need to be done for each port but it would seem to me once coding is done for one port it would be simple to add to the rest of the ports.......

Maybe I am wrong.....

I was thinking similarly. Basically a market place that would allow a user to submit a number of acres and price per acre. For the first instance You allow 3 days for bids to be placed and updated to fill the queue. Highest bids get land offers first. Followed by highest bid for land available. 24 hours to respond to offer, if no response, they are rejected and removed from the bid list and the next available (available land permitting and not already offered) bid is given an offer. Land contracts last X days (3 or 7), 24 hours is way too short. Contracts take effect at the top of the next hour from acceptance.

Contract holders will have the option to set a bid on their existing land that isn't visible in the market, in attempt to keep the land at end of contract. At the end of the contract, their bid will be placed in the market and the process repeats. Contract holders also have option to auto accept if their bid maintains their land, so if they still hold the highest bid, there is no wait for them to respond. If they don't have the highest, there bid will sit in the queue until an offer is sent, removed, or updated.

All active contracts are shown, with winning bid price. No names are listed only total acreage, bid price, and expiration of contract. This will give players a chance to enter new bids to compete with land that is nearing contract end.

It's not like I like complex system. It takes a complex system to deliver the requirements. It's not that difficult.
The problem is that each acre is a different element but also a part of the whole. The easiest way would be to have an infinite amount of acres.

Perhaps 24 hours minimum rental is too small indeed. The good part is that the system we are currently building will allow us to tweak the time anytime we wish. Perhaps however we should outright make it 3 days instead of 24 hours. Although this would reduce the rogue case more but I think we can accept this.

The key reason as to why 24hours might be a small period is that acres are used across the plantation in multiple ways. An acre may be used by fields or Guard house for example. We cannot keep track of acres usage so when you lose acres these will be removed by fields on priority, which will be the less effective part of your plantation as it will only affect production. Then it can be removed equally from the rest. Or perhaps we could add a system of priorities for this case too (/me remains vigilant for shoes).

Acres are auctioned by the port and not players. Eventually,at a port everyone will pay the same amount of rent per acre. Without a system that constantly adjusts prices, you will not achieve this.

200th post!

I don't think there is a simple way, regrettably.
