the clock, in flames, strikes back into the earth and lands in its same place and waves of light start to appear in the night sky. Compasses start rapidly moving and shatter their holsters. It appears the clock did enough damage to time that the magnetism of Avonmora had been disrupted. The flames instantly die with no scorch marks on the clock.

Emily sighs as she teleports to Vune and shouts.

Please tell me you can get rid of this thing?

Vune shrugs

Eh, I say we just leave it alone, maybe block it off to everyone with a powerful barrier. If it causes more problems we can look into removing it. Ill probably throw a few expendable apprentices to study it, if they die its no real loss. Anyway don't worry moppet, Ill handle it.

Vune and Emily teleport back as Vune immediately sets up a magic barrier around the clock-keeping it in, and keeping things out. She slaps on dozens upon dozens of enchantments and spells on top of the barrier to keep its magic contained. She looks to all the damage done by the damn things as she takes a deep breath as she takes off her mask and hands it to Emily.

This is going to take a lot out of me.

She unleashes an immense wave of energy, as she rewinds all the way back to when it first came out. The barriers are still there as all the damage is undone. She puts her mask back on before any can see her face as she leans on Emily.

Oh sweet mother, havn't used that much power in centuries. Moppet, teleport me to my bed.

Emily immediately does so.

The clock then begins to grow roots and form branches with what has pink and scarlett leaves blossoming. The clock becomes the trunk and wraps itself in its bark, and a silver and emerald necklace-crest falls from the tree and has a green glow to it. It appears to have several mechanisms and small levers on the outer ring of the pendant.

Engravings on the pendant read “Clockwork Amulet”

the clock’s ticking can be heard inside the tree

The barriers simply do nothing, as the clock isn't exerting any energy outwards, Though Vune quickly tells Emily to add another barrier to block the view of it to prevent idiots from trying to break the barrier to examine it- this is strong magic, so only a qualified mage should get near it. Emily obeys and masks the barriers and clock with darkness until a qualified magic user can examine it later.

something weighted feels like it hit into emily’s pocket and a green glow comes from the pocket. It appears the clock influenced nearby containers, pouches, and pockets to what they held earlier in time. Friendly whispers and wind sounds are emitted from the pendant. The darkness is then broken from a green glow from inside the dome of magic barriers. The inside of the barrier is not seen from the green bright glow. It seems the pendant and its mother tree are in parallelism.

Emily just looks at the pendant and sighs. She pockets it away as she notices a lizard man standing next to her. He just shrugs and points at the clock before speaking.

Hey I know we are sorta fighting right now, but honestly I think we should postpone it until you all figure out how to keep this clock from mucking things up. That bloody thing messed our homes up too.

Emily rolls her eyes as she just throws the lizardman back into the water before speaking.

Ill just make sure no one touches it until I examine it later. Ill be coming for you and the rest of you soon.

She takes a another look at the clock, decides to put a large blanket over the barrier and to basically decide to leave it alone for now as she goes to a nearby tavern to sit and relax for a minute

The mysterious pendant shows insight to emily, showing the cease of existance of the lizard man. Then her consciousness flashes back to her senses, only to a group of people surrounding her in joy and a jug of rum in front of her. The people celebrate and a poster of her face is on the wall. It reads “the lizard assassin saves the town!”

She blinks a few times as she tries to gather her senses. She begins to think to herself rather quickly.

Okay, this is weird and makes no sense. Did I get thrown ahead in time to after I beat the lizards? How the hell did I even do that? I hadn't thought of a plan yet, the damn things lived deep underwater, I had no way of wiping them out on my own, even with my magic. Is this some sort of illusion? A trick? Am I dreaming or hallucinating? Why the hell do they call me an assassin? I'm a bloody undead witch? And why do I have rum? I can't drink, id just vomit it back up on account of my organs being dead. To hell with it let's see if I can get this bloody thing to put me back.

She takes the amulet out, examines it and thinks back to all her knowledge of magic.

Well I know next to nothing about time magic, but to hell with it lets give it a shot.

She focuses, and is back to where she was. She looks around before taking the amulet and focusing even harder to keep it from doing anything on its own, before tucking it away. Might be useful later she supposes. She gazes out at sea and begins to think how to wipe out the lizard men.

The amulet then reveals a flashback to an underwater fortress that holds lizardmen, then flashes and now appears to be a vault underwater. In the vault is a book with what looks like a book wrapped in magic bonded chains and guards around the book. The symbol on the book is covered but looks like an hourglass on the corner of the book. Emily is then back to her senses

Emily just grabs her head and sighs.

Ugh, this is annoying. Id rather do things on my own, or maybe with help from friends. Regardless, now I just need to get to that book I suppose.

She tries to teleport there but is rebuffed. She groans.

Well. Teleporting won't work. Might as well ask for help from my buddies in the mage guild. Gonna need help breaking into that fortress and sadly most of my friends need air.

She contacts her friend Ell to make a few dozen potions to allow water breathing, and waits for him to come by. She thinks about moving time forward but quickly decides not to. In fact looking at the amulet she come to a decision. She quickly goes to Vune, who is resting from using so much magic and hands it to her.

Your a better mage then me, and I trust you. You keep it and do what you like with it.

Vune laughs

Ill try but magic items like this can be finicky. It might just leave and come back to you. but I will try to keep it.

Emily nods and goes back and begins to wait for Ell.
