the priest shakes his head.

No, I'm not a zealot. I'm just curious as to why you think Jack did anything. He fought in the arena, I got rid off the spirits, not jack.

Vune just laughs.

So are you trying to say you single handedly stopped the demons and undead and dragons that attacked the arena in Akrotiri? How prideful of a priest. And a blatant lie.

Vune says in a more serious voice as she looks to the priest.

From the reports I got from my subordinates, Emily's golem killed one dragon and crippled the other, Veera cleared the arena and put the townspeople in a secure location, Meadow kept the people asleep so panic wouldn't occur, and the others helped repair the port and fight the invaders. Jack and Agnar also fought the invaders. Ellen's spirit fought as well, and those 2 suits of armor sealed the breach. As for YOU, well you just asked angels and your god for help. Rather lazy honestly.

Vune nods to agnar before speaking.

Just Vune is fine. I only make my subordinates call me Lady. Of course Vune Is just a nickname. All the mages in our guild use nicknames, to keep our real names and identities secret, as quite a few people would want us dead. Well except for Emily and Veera.

the priest glares angrily

I called on them, without me doing so, getting rid of the demons would have been a lot more difficult, without my prayers, St. Michael would never have appeared as they did. I prayed, and the demons, including the devil himself, were cast down back to where they came. Without my intercession, none of them would have appeared as they did. The blessed virgin herself appeared. Jack was drinking the during that fight. Granted I did not single handily get rid of them, but I helped, I did what I do best, I prayed. And for you to say that I did nothing is a rotten lie. A damned lie!

The priest gets up.

I've had enough of magicians for one day, I'll be back in a while

Jack orders some rum as the priest storms out of the place. Jack grimaces

You must have hit a nerve. He's right though, I was drinking for the most important part of the fighting.

Vune just laughs as she waves the priest goodbye.

Sorry I hurt your feelings, I thought you were a grown man, not a little baby.

She turns back to the others.

Nothing brings me more joy then mocking self righteous fools like him. But while you were not a big part of the fight Jack, for the priest to say you did nothing IS a lie. The priest could have at LEAST said "I stopped the invasion WITH some help from others". Even I wouldn't say that the mages guild stopped it single handedly-which is why I thanked you and Agnar. But the priest can go stuff it, he just had others do his work FOR him. Hell even ELLEN, who is a bloody ghost fought, and she asked angels for help too. But I respect that she had the guts to go in and fight, instead of standing back and just asking angels to do her work for her.

She turns to Agnar.

Honestly the nicknames are more for the benefits of my subordinates. Much like Emily and Veera I can not die. At least not very easily. But I also don't like people going into my lair or home and trying to kill me. Its annoying.

Jack rolls his eyes.

He can't fight demons that way. He was in fact, in harms way. Without his prayers, the demons would have gotten down to the city and people, and there would have been more problems. Without his prayers, you would have to literally wrestle with the devil. It was HIS prayer, that the portal was closed, it was HIS prayer, that caused St. Michael to appear and push the devil into hell, it was by HIS prayers that many of the demons ran. He said "I got rid of the spirits" which is true, since he did get rid of a great deal of them. He wasn't implying that he was the cause of all their destructions, merely that he helped. You say, that he did nothing, without his prayers, St. Michael, the Blessed Virgin, many angels, perhaps even God, would never have appeared in the way they did. I hit the bloody suit of armor a couple times with a sword, he caused the blessed Virgin to appear. Also, the reason he's left, is because he's already been pestered enough today, he needs time alone.

Vune just laughs

So your god and his angels had NO idea what was happening? They needed him to tell them? Or do they only help when asked? You would think that if they knew the literal devil and his army was invading they would have helped without needing to hear some prayers first. So I wouldn't hold his prayers as being the reason they showed up. If I knew of a massive threat coming that could end the world, I wouldn't just sit on my ass and wait for my subordinates to ask me for help, id come as soon as I knew of the threat.

And no, him saying "i got rid of the spirits" is NOT true. Even if he got rid of a great deal of them, I know for a fact that quite a few were also dealt with by Ellen's spirit and my subordinates, so i find it rather offensive and insulting that he would say HE got rid of them without so much as even saying he had help. I aknowledge that the Mages guild would have had a tough time stopping that invasion-I do believe they would have succeeded without help, but the damage done to the port would have been massive, so the help they recieved earned my gratitude. And as i recall Ellen got angels to come help as well.

Vune turns to Emily as she thinks.

but enough with this argument, we should start looking for the killer. Or killers. Would you be fine with acting as bait dear?

Emily shrugs.

I mean I can't die so sure.

Vune nods as she takes a seat and takes out a book.

The sun will be up soon. I think it would be better to bait them at night. So ill just sit and read until then.
