Banker can sell loans to another banker at a value set by the seller. 1% tax.

Interesting idea but not sure it's necessary or appropriate for this game.

Why?

It was very common practice for Bankers to purchase debt from another creditor at a reduced price if the current creditor did not have the capital to wait for the long term return on investment.

+1 from me.

It was also mentioned bankers could one day buy nation debt for collection.

It's ok suggestion if it doesn't take too much time and doesn't mess with loan insurance

I agree it was common practice I just don't know how wide they want to take the game. Tis a pirate game after all, not Bankers Glory.

Yes there are pirates.. and bankers, merchants, Kings/Queens, nobles, guilds, nations, ports, resources, soon plantations. It's much more of an economical simulation of an old world and the Admins suggestions and list of updates only supports this. Just because the name has "Pirates" in it does not mean that's all it is.

Yes however; I believe the pirate side has been neglected for a while.

I could be mistaken, again I have not been too active. But I have not heard of anything 'amazing' happening for Pirates as of recent... Hell we still waiting for the flagship... Could be argued that, got to make the majority happy. I suppose. :)
