Clearly, this can't be a daytime assault. Best thing is to move in at night in smaller groups. Stay off roads and trails. Silent weapons only until we breach the fort. Can we get a hold of some crossbows?

Jack shakes his head

Nope. Nobody owns them, the armory has none either.

Oggie speaks up.

Jack, just cause you and your men don't have none doesn't mean nobody does. I can go and get some from the port fort, they like to keep some in storage in case they run outta gunpowder. ill head there now. I think now that the cult lost a valuable member, they are probably going to turtle up for a time, and withdraw most of their members back to the fort. They will probably be expecting a raid, so we should try to hit them tonight before they have time to set up too many defenses. I think for group size we should do 5 man squads, but as for how many squads we should bring I'm not sure. Easily 100 men in that fort, but I don't think we can bring that many squads without being spotted.

Jack sighs

No, I meant then bloody town armory. I checked, for a couple weeks there have been no crossbows because they are no longer needed.

While becoming increasingly rare as time progressed, Bows and Crossbows were still used during the golden age of piracy by pirates.

Oggie just replies.

mate you literally said nobody owns them anymore. And im just telling you that just because you think that doesn't mean its true. The local fort's kept quite a few crossbows and bows in its storage and plenty of ammo. Gunpowder isn't always available, and the local nobles have been known to go hunting with them from time to time. Ill be heading out now, and ill come back with plenty of crossbows and bolts. A few bows and arrows too for any who prefer them.

True. But not very much. Secondly, but the navy really had little use for them. And if they did, they'd have them in such short supply, that they'd be almost non existent.

Jack sighs.

I checked the armory, the town armory, there are no bloody crossbows. Nobles generally have guns, I meant that people rarely use them, commoners anyway.

Oggie gets annoyed.

Mate, perhaps your not listening, so ill repeat myself one last time before I give up and just grab the damn things to show you. The local fort, HAS crossbows, bows and ammo-the guard captain is an old friend of mine and he's took me hunting with the damn things several times. You wouldn't know that, as the local guards wouldn't let some random pirate come in to inspect their armory. And some nobles like the experience of hunting with old fashioned weapons, hell I know I do. And if you STILL want to say they don't exist, give me 5 bloody minutes and ill be back here with a plethora of the damn things.

Oggie walks out the door heading to the local fort.

Jack stands up, angry. He pulls out a knife and stabs it into the table and walks away.

Fine, have it your way, use them, do what you bloody like for God's sake! I don't care.
