I want it be very clear, team Roo had no reference to skills when drafting, totally about the skillz
Some people are like Slinkies, totally useless but great fun to watch when you push them down the stairs

I think you all forget one important thing. The selection is made by the captain at his own discretion. :)

Sometimes, but rarely, he consults his team (as it was the case in Poppy’s rookie pick). We all read the interviews and they were good… really good. We have the promising new generation of players, I have to say. But, why we choose Anne, our newest member of the crew, rather than other candidates?
I can’t speak for others, but only explain my choice. I voted Anne, not because she was the most powerful, or influential, or aggressive etc, in comparison to others, but because of her way of thinking about her progress and because of her funny and lovable nature. (we communicated before this draft).
And of course, I always like to see the new female player in this game. ;) :P

Exactly you interview chosen people weather they are in consideration for guild or draft. While for unknown targets you would ask people or check stats to determine price for the job. No matter how you put it you take a look at stats at one point so premise of stats not being worth or having no influence is false.

I never check stats. they are meaningless. We try to know who is who and what is what and if we dont know we ask people who do

I see a lot of talent and a lot of unexpected picks, and some picks that simply surprised me,

A lot of rookie picks i see are very unheard of people, hope they can make waves here in the game.

good draft everyone, cant wait till the next one

what made Anne stand out for me was her social skills and the fact she made few good friends in the game already (I felt that more then others). I think that the fact that she made these social connections will keep her interest and activity in the game and thats an important factor to her future here.

Natsu Dragneel wrote:Stats mean nothing if you are me. ;) its skill that counts and not the fame ;) anne has that by a long shot from training from me and edward (Vane.) since we have both Pulpop, the legendary merc leader, Edward, a once damn feared pirate of seas now under royal colors as a privateer, and phoenix, legendary leader and founder of the SSAA, we would definitely say that numbers dont count when it comes to be a hunter or the hunted ;)

If that were so, pirate tales and props would auto make you a worse player than the rest of the rookies ;)

This is by far the most asinine statement I've read on here. Your ridiculous logic flies contrary to actuality. Please take your statement to any professional, college, or even high school level sports and tell them that stats don't matter in determining a players abilities and skills. I'm sure they will laugh you right out of the room.

I also didn't know being a kiss ass made someone skillful.

I know a couple players that have low fame and influence and are better than some of the draft picks here, stats mean a lot, but still personality comes into play to.

which would you have: a snotty bratty kid who does nothing besides brags and gets on people nerves with a A average , or a quite helpful kid who has a B average

Yes personality does help for team cohersion and ability to follow orders, but that is an after thought to one's abilities and skills. A great leader can overcome personalities setbacks. I know that from actual experience.

Example:

Player A can be outspoken and can bump heads with others. Skill level is unknown.

Player B is helpful, easy to talk with, a friendly person, gets along with everyone. Skill level is unknown.

Which would you rather have?

Player A, would be my choice mostly because I can relate to him because I was like Player A early on in the game.(still am I bit like that, but toned it down a lot though)

Most people would choose Player B because they could mold them easier and they would be easier to handle, and Player B is easier to handle.
