Role Play- A Plague in Psaral.

ime for a new RP. Here are the rules.

1. Try to keep things in character. Don't post something unrelated to the RP here. If you don't like this RP, don't complain about it here. Post a new thread or start your own RP thread if you don't like this one. I would actually be quite happy if someone posts a RP of their own so please feel free to do so.
2. You can control your characters actions-You can not control others. NPC's are fair game and anyone can control them, so long as its believable and in character. A guard for example shouldn't just up and decide to shoot an orphan for no reason-that is out of character. Anyone without a name will be considered a NPC, if you name a character but want it to be a NPC then just mention that said character is NPC in quotation marks after a post.
3. You are allowed to have multiple characters- but be reasonable. Don't flood the story with a bunch of your characters. 2 or 3 in one story is fine, anything past that is sort of pushing it unless you are really good at managing them.
4. Use Italics for actions, and try to separate things nice and neat. Also use paragraphs when needed.
5. No editing of a post once you post it. The exception is to fix spelling mistakes or minor errors. It can be real annoying when someone posts one thing and another responds to it only to find what they responded too is now completely different.
6-This RP will be going on at the same time roughly as the Role Play- A Harvest In Hannes. So if you have a character in one RP they can not be in the other unless you state said character leaves for another area.
7. The most important rule- Have fun.

This role play is going to be a 3 on the realism scale. So its a bit more realistic then A harvest, but its still not very realistic.

In the Port of Psaral things have not been going good. A very Vicious and deadly plague is spreading throughout it. People die by the day, many refuse to go out of their homes, bodies are burned in giant stacks and the local doctors do their best trying to help the dying, to little avail. The port was declared quarantined by the Crown and a huge blockade is currently blocking all travel. Any ship that tries to leave or enter is warned they will be blasted and destroyed by the blockade unless they have permission from a high authority and thoroughly checked by the doctors. The people are miserable, and there are rumors of a cult who seek to spread the plague to all the other ports. The local governor himself is dead due to the plague so the admiral has issued a bounty on any rats killed. 1 Gold for each dead rat brought to the local guard, and a extra 5 gold for a hundred rats killed and brought in. The local churches hold daily prayer's for the dead, and are constantly begging the lord to help them through this hardship.

In a rundown tavern a old man is serving rum to a few men in his tavern. Despite the sadness and horror going on he seems to be quite happy, a large grin on his face and not a worry in his mind. He keeps an eye on the door wondering if any more customers are going to come in.

A young man by the name of Aeron stumbles into the bar, his face covered with a mask, he walks to the bar and orders a drink
You look quite happy, how so?

A man enters the tavern and takes a seat at the bar counter.

What killed the party?

Barkeep hands him a drink and just laughs.

Because I'm old and I'm not afraid of dying. Got no family here so I'm not worried for them, and thanks to the local bounties on rats I been making a good profit killing the rats in the bar here and turning them in. Been here for nearly 60 years working this bar, and I gotten quite good at killing the pests before they even touch a drop of rum or a bite of food. Doesn't stop them from trying though. But just last night I made nearly 1000 gold off of rats I killed last week. Besides I learned something interesting. Rum doesn't carry the plague-something about it keeps it from getting contaminated. So I don't drink water no more, just rum. So being constantly buzzed really helps my mood.

He takes a drink of rum outta his mug as he sets it down.

So thats why im quite happy.

Barkeep looks at the new customer and just laughs.

Local rats. Don't know why others have so much trouble finding and killing them. I catch em all the time. But I have decades of experience I suppose. You want a drink? could use some company.

Aeron takes off his mask and drinks a good swig of rum
Well, its not like rats are exactly easy to catch for a person without experience, how are there so many anyways?They should have brought a whole shipful of cats.

The barkeep loses his smile as he looks around warily before leaning in closer and whispering.

That cult I'm betting. Last shipment of cats that were brought in were killed before they entered the port. Local cats have also been found killed all over the place-gotten so bad the local guard state anyone found mistreating a cat is to be put to death, yet they still get killed. Man tried to kill me a while back but I beat him back. Think they don't like how I kill so many rats. Be careful if you go hunting rats. Some of the best rat hunters go missing. I ain't afraid to die, but I won't go down easy.

barkeep finishes talking and smiles again as he takes a swig of rum.

I was being sarcastic, but yes, I'd like a drink.

Barkeep laughs as he hands him a drink.

Hard for me to tell sometimes. I'm not the smartest man honestly, i just know how to fight, serve drinks and kill rats. But hey, good for something at least.

He takes another swig of rum as he laughs. But he does say rather seriously.

But mates be careful. That cult is crazy, and if they think you 2 might cause em trouble they will come after ya. Keep an eye out at all times and be ready to fight. Would hate to see 2 young men die cause of those loons.

Now, completely hypothetical. If one where looking for this cult, where would one go to find them?
