All they do is talk, their diplomacy consists of, "My guns are bigger than yours, so stand down!" I want them to actually fire. I know the beating will be severe but it is better than nothing.

In all honesty, All I see is complaining about complainers. If you don't care, then don't and just continue on in the game. This is nothing but kabuki theater.

Are we really complainers if, instead of only whining about them, we invite them to action, knowing full well they can beat us down 10x over what we can do to them?

We are speaking out against a long-brewed issue that has arrived from becoming lazy and expecting only good things to come, like the guaranteed income from trade routes and support from your 40+ man guild. They complain of losing small amounts of money in quite isolated occurences, we are highlighting what we see as a wide-spread issue, as some others do.

Yes, because you are complaining. Taunting or calling them into action is one thing, complaining about what they are doing makes it complaining.

All I will say on this is that pirates are pirates and by that very definition will be trying to take your gold.
And traders who wish to resist that are encouraged to do so....... it may mean you meet counter resistance to your counter resistance lol and it is on each individual to decide if that approach is productive for each individual, team or coalition.
But I will say this the most active people are those who have to play everyday to earn.
With a recent decline of actives as proven by the removal of inactives with fleets in the recent months targets are fewer and excellent targets even fewer than that.
So I can guarantee you will be hit.
Dont like it? Do your thing as I for one as a privateer will be trying to earn mine.

I will say this, if a trader gets raided excessively, then either they are doing something wrong and making themselves a easy/good target, or they angered someone which is the last thing a trader should do. If a person wishes to be a trader, then they should try their best to not provoke others, ESPECIALLY pirates and privateers. Second, it isn't too hard to split up your routes and give them a decent escort. Sure that affects the profit gain a bit, but it helps deter raids and you gain in the long run.

My words weren't empty and not even necessarily hostile: I just seek to make the game more interesting by inviting the fat-cats to do something besides private message me.

A side note I just remembered. A good bit of advice to traders or players who are new or just want to be mostly left alone is to be polite and friendly. It doesn't cost anything to do so and it honestly helps a lot in the long run. You are far less likely to be raided if others like you then if others dislike you. So don't go around boasting, don't insult the more aggressive players, and don't be rude.

They are. If you aren't going to do anything outside of what you would do normally (ie what you would do without saying something), they are nothing but words, thus unnecessary, and thus empty.
