I need to know who he is, his motives, and where he plans to strike next, his men buried half the port, a local priest is still digging up people. I need to find him, and kill him, before he does this again, I'll even pay you if necessary.

Good information comes at a cost. Some of the information you seek is not your run of the mill information, which means it comes at a premium, a premium that is far more than what you can provide upfront. However, considering the circumstances, I'm willing to trade a piece of information for information that I am in need of. You answer my questions truthfully, I'll give you information that will assist you in your search.

Another of Pellew's Lieutenants returns to their table with a new round of drinks.
Admiral, I overheard a couple of men at the bar, one of them mentioned the name "Gale". I couldn't hear much more than that, they were being quite discreet about it.

The Admiral takes quick interest in the subject.
I must return to the french Admiralty at once. - He turns to his right. - "Horatio, ready the Inde."

Pellew looks back to the returning lieutenant - "John, you will remain here with the "Pelican". Learn what more you can and send word the minute you do.
"Not all treasure is silver and gold mate."

Jack out of the corner of his eye, notices the group of Frenchmen and the Admiral leave. He whispers:

We may want to take this conversation elsewhere..

Where exactly do you think it would be better to have this conversation?

The bartender comes over and whispers to Jack and the other man.

If you need privacy we have a private meeting room in the back. Ordinarily I charge for it, but if you deal with Gale its free of charge this time. Ill make sure no one goes over to it, not without a fight anyway.

John sat quietly and patiently at his corner table in the tavern. He had paid a small boy he found sitting on the street to fetch the quartermaster who was on board the Pelican in the harbor.

The Pelican was a small 12 gun sloop with around 50 souls on board. A mix of french marines and sailors. She had proven herself a reliable and quick vessel to the navy and John was honored to have her as his first command. As John sat playing out the coming days in his mind, the quartermaster he had sent for entered the tavern, spotted the Lieutenant and saluted him as he approached the table.

"Have a seat", John said as he hailed the barmaid to the table.
"Not all treasure is silver and gold mate."

The man looks towards the bartender.

I don't do backroom deals and discussion. They tend to be shitty and usually end up with someone getting screwed.

Turns his attention to Jack.

Why do you worry about the French?
