Using a proxy to cast voodoo? Action to condemn

Anything related to in-game diplomacy (and beyond) can be brought here.
Guild news and announcements, war declarations, recruitment, military service offerings, etc.

Flaming is expected here. If you are easily offended, avoid this thread all together.

John Avery wrote:I reported Pro and Dman a few months ago; when Dman started to cast voodoo on me. I was online at the time and drained him of turns.

Then within a min of Dman being drained of turns; xProx appears and starts casting on me.

Not saying Multis but again, a proxy possibility.

However the 'Proxy' possibility could also be used against Mercenaries, no? As they are filtering out the true source with personal benefits from it? (I am not saying this in a way that is bad, but merely a question)

Lets take Merc for an example, they get paid to carry out a job. Is that not classed as a proxy?

xProx does not seem as a legitimate player. That's the root of my protest here. I know he used to be one but I am not sure he is now. Like I said in my first post, if there is same IP conflict, then the rules are clear.

However, even if it is not a same IP conflict, we need to ensure that a player is not acting as a proxy for a specific player or group. For example, Merc, mercenaries and bounties are open for all and carried by everyone. If xprox is here only to favor specific players, then this is no different than milking. His history must be checked for this. If he has been acting like this, then he is simply tainting the gameplay.

Although, the easiest explanation is given by the rules. When taking a bounty, you are doing an action that will be rewarded. When casting voodoo with no gains or reason other than favor someone else, then you are not playing your own account at its own full benefit. Therefore, this is milking.

I disagree with the gameplay solution. There needs to be moderation.
The problem must be followed on the aggressors side, not the victims side.

If I set up a friend to send me gc every day, this is milking and it is prohibited.
If I set up a friend to do voodoo casting for me, this is also milking and must be punished.

Just playing devils advocate here for good debate...

If a player "outside" of a guild, coordinates an attack with someone in a guild, then this is "Milking"
but
If two players in a guild, coordinate a raid/attack then this is fair?

Just curious on the difference. (I do understand the concern however on the IP thing...)

Not if both players coordinating the attack are gaining from the attack. In this situation... one is not gaining nor playing his account to the fullest, therefore... milking/pushing.

To be sincere, the post was created because it felt like cheating. I mean, xProx, I know the guy. Why attack me out of the blue? It didn't make sense. Outside of a guild? Then followed by attacks in multiple ports in a few minutes? It smelt badly.

I am all about cooperation. If VUDU is purposefully using xProx as a way to attack people and get minimum retaliation back, as a tactic, then I am interested to see what xProx gains in the process. As of now, he gains bad reputation and nothing at hand, unless there are mountains of golds and credits that have already gone his way for his valuable services.

I think this whole discussion is valid and is a topic that needs clarification. There are several grey areas here that need ADMIN to weigh in.

As for payment for services to Pro, I do not know that, as I was not involved. I have taken to the quiet life of a Trader

Of it is any consolation Sparrow, that very same smell hovered over the Ayes guild for a few weeks and months. The air only cleared when I asked an old guildmate who was in a similar situation as xPROx was to start shot-gunning a short list of suspects.
I guess that bad smell has drifted towards you unfortunately. Despite numerous complaints in forums about this style of game play, it remains a problem for some. My only real consolation is that its not a personal attack but rather a tactic used against large traders and those that would threaten the originator if discovered to be guilty of such game play.
Looking at it from your perspective Sparrow, I agree it is a form of pushing and enhancing another players account.

I saw this topic few minutes ago...after I already posted in my guild forum>

''Btw, I am pretty convinced that xPROx and dmanwuzhere are the same player. No one can convince me in the opposite! The same way of speaking (both of them are so illiterate, even for me, who is not English to see that)...
And xPROx always cast and Dman attacks!
speaking=writting''

I am under their attack for months. Fortunately I have very good guildmates who react instantly, so I never have had a big damage. And I don't have so many fleets so, no big deal...but still, being attacked by two (three) players for months and always in the same way ...what to say.

And yep, the third one is Juicy... just thinking about how Dman was so hostile to Avery when he was in HELM, how he was trying to ban Avery ...and that reminds me of something...

P.s. I apologize to admin for putting my minds on forum, but I already know what happened few times when they were reported from other players...no proof, just assumptions...

"Black sparrow" If VUDU is purposefully using xProx as a way to attack people and get minimum retaliation back, as a tactic,

Just curious, why would we hire someone to cast for us to minimize retaliation when we get blamed for almost every thing the player does anyway.

I can certainly see one of us hiring someone to cast if we did not have enough turns for the job or did not have all the cards needed, but which of us do you think is trying to avoid a retaliation hit? You can check with merc and see if they think any of us fear retaliation.

I will re propose my suggestion for earning casting points to use voodoo

Casting points
