Personally I voted for the number two option, but that does not mean I don't also want to see the third given priority as well. As things stand now, I'd like to see plantations implemented soon, followed by heavy attention given to ship attributes and tech. I think that blockades will also be a great addition, but personally I would like to see ship attributes and technology introduced first so we can work through that before we start throwing potentially hordes of fleets and ships into battle under a blockade scenario.
A lot of great ideas have been put forth, and I'll recap my personal favorites, if I may, for the sake of the topic. Several of these work off of each other- the first three in particular, so they would have to be implemented as a package deal, in my mind:
1) Change to a "line of battle" scenario, where ships pass each other in a line and all ships fire on each other as the fleets pass each other in a line. Ships that survive the initial engagement circle around for another pass.
2) Introduce guild operated shipwrights where custom ships with altered or enhanced attributes can be researched and built and sold on the player market. (Would require guild warehouses, contract shipping, and guild treasury)
3) Introduce new Hideout building: Foundry, to allow players to research, upgrade, and build custom guns/cannons and differing shot types to equip on their ships or sell in a market/store. (Would also require creation of a guild or port store where players could sell their goods, or creation of a tech market similar to ship market).
***Allowing for altered/enhanced ship attributes in combination with specialized tech would make the change to a "line of battle" combat mechanic very interesting.***
4) Implement Vane's suggestion to create individual fleet treasuries to allow for players to more safely keep higher numbers of fleets at sea and with more valuable ships.
5) And just to spice things up, Implement Sir Henry Morgan's suggestion to allow certain voodoo to be pre-loaded onto ships to be activated in battle under certain circumstance.Hope ya'll don't mind me putting this right here. Not trying to hijack the thread, not that that happens often on the forums or anything, it just seemed worth highlighting some of the suggestions the community has put out there given the topic is winning the vote count by far.
Cheers!
