Trade route scheduling / planning

Postby William one eye » Sat Jan 20, 2018 4:41 pm

This suggestion is for a function to create future trade routes.

Essentially a copy or copies of all of your trade routes, but for routes you want to run in the future.

I suggest the ability to save and name trade route sets and schedule their activation.

Basically you create a new set of trade routes while your current routes keep running. When you are done you can name and save the routes, click to assign the routes imediately, or set a date and time to start the new routes.

So when you are at the trade routes page you might see the following options

Active trade routes - trade routes 3 ( this would be the pages you go to currently - only change is that it can be custom named )

Trade routes 1. Starts at 12:00:00 1/30/2018 ( a full set of trade routes with custom name that has been setup to start in the future)

Hideout supply route ( another full set of trade routes with custom name that is saved but has no future activation set )

Trade routes 2 ( another full set of trade routes with custom name that is saved but has no future activation set )

To clarify these are not routes to add to your current trade routes. This reassigns all your trade routes.

for example the one I custom named hideout supply route, may be exactly the same as trade routes 3 with 10 fleets diverted to stock your hideout.
when you need to fill your hideout warehouse you open this saved set and activate it. when you are done stocking your hideout, you might
open trade routes 3 and reactivate it to send the fleets back to their previous routes.

edit - added a few things to make it more clear what I am suggesting.

I believe this has been suggested before. Basically the ability to create and save trade routes in a management system, then assign or un-assign fleets as you choose without having the need to recreate the route.

I'll try to find the suggestion.

This is to create save an entire set of trade routes. So you retask everything all at one moment.

What you mention is different it would be equally useful and the two would pair nicely together

How is it different? What I mentioned allows one to create and save routes and apply them in any manner that they choose to any number of fleets. Sounds like the same thing to me.

you( or the suggestion you are referencing ) is / are suggesting that you create a permanent saved trade route setting, that you can apply to any fleet you want now or in the future.

for example - you have these setups and you select to open them and assign fleets to them. they have your ports and the respective load, storage, bar and halt preferences for each leg of the route saved.

sample saved route nicknames

baramas new land - settings 1
baramas new land - settings 2
hannes prote - cargo
hannes prote - gold
regis hannes - cargo

my suggestion is to be able to save all your assigned routes.
( I am now suggesting the two ideas are combined in my example I am using the route presets to create trade route programs )

Trade routes 1 - active trade routes

FLEET 1 hannes prote - gold
FLEET 2 hannes prote - gold
FLEET 3 hannes prote - gold
FLEET 4 hannes prote - gold
FLEET 5 hannes prote - gold
FLEET 6 hannes prote - gold
FLEET 7 hannes prote - gold
FLEET 8 hannes prote - gold
FLEET 9 hannes prote - cargo
FLEET 10 baramas new land - settings 2
FLEET 11 baramas new land - settings 2
FLEET 12 baramas new land - settings 2
FLEET 13 baramas new land - settings 2
FLEET 14 regis hannes - cargo
FLEET 15 regis hannes - cargo
FLEET 16 regis hannes - cargo

Trade routes 2 - click to assign these routes now- click to schedule these routes for a future date

FLEET 1 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 2 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 3 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 4 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 5 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 6 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 7 hannes prote - cargo
FLEET 8 hannes prote - cargo
FLEET 9 hannes prote - cargo
FLEET 10 hannes prote - cargo
FLEET 11 hannes prote - cargo
FLEET 12 regis hannes - cargo
FLEET 13 regis hannes - cargo
FLEET 14 regis hannes - cargo
FLEET 15 regis hannes - cargo
FLEET 16 regis hannes - cargo

Trade routes 3 - click to assign these routes now - click to schedule these routes for a future date

FLEET 1 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 2 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 3 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 4 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 5 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 6 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 7 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 8 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 9 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 10 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 11 baramas new land - settings 1
FLEET 12 baramas new land - settings 1

Ability to set schedules across multiple routes and fleets.

I see you made some edits.

+1

I would assume that when scheduling for the future, the new routes would update at game update for the selected date of taking effect. And for any fleets mid route, they would finish the existing route and would start the new one upon reaching port.

I was suggesting you could actually pick a time and day that they change if you choose to schedule a change
or that you could instantly select a set and apply it.

yes fleets would probably be mid route when the changes were applied, so they would have to finish the current leg of their route.
