As long as there is a dispute their is no legitimate claim. Without US and European backing, Israel wouldn’t have existed nor survived this long. The region will never accept Israel as a country but may be willing to find a maintain the status quo solution. The thing is no one can agree what that is

Well that won't never happen, though I do appreciate the law where if your 8% or more Native American you can get a couple of acres of land from the government, certain hunting rights, and some money.

Yeah except the Native Americans aren't Native. They came across the land bridge at the Bering Straight, which makes them conquerors/immigrants as well. I guess they have to give it up too.

But that isn't how it works. And Palestinians are technically in the same boat. Wars were fought land was occupied. Peace Treaties were signed at which point, any territory that Israel was still in control of after the signing of such treaties belongs to Israel. That's how it works.

And the USA recognizing Jerusalem as the Capital was done by law signed back during the 90s, with an option for the President to extend declaring as such for x time. The President chose not to extend it, as there was no reason to continue the charade as the Palestinians do not want or support a 2 state setup. Why give them a card to play on the negotiating table when they aren't willing to negotiate anyway.

Sorry, I find the UN to be a joke and they have a bias against Israel. There has been no UN resolutions toward Palestine (besides being added as an observer in 2012) since 1988, but there have been continued resolutions against Israel. Seems to be a little one sided.

Actually, Shia vs. Sunni conflict about the legacy of Islam is just as controversial, and that war has raged for nearly 1400 years.
