Jack takes out two greanades from somewhere in his old, and worn frock coat.

These are the most dangerous things I have.

John finally finds what he is looking for. A small hole in the stone wall.

John pulls a chain out from around his neck, that holds a key. The key looks to be broken as it appears to be only the head and a shaft, there are no teeth on the key. John takes the key and inserts it into the hole and turns it. A series of clinks are heard followed by the sound of a stone sliding. A single stone is protruding from a wall column on the other side of the cellar. John removes the key and quickly walks over to the column. With all his might, John pushes the stone back into the column. A series of gears start to turn and the wall next to the column starts to slide revealing a hidden staircase.

John enters the hidden staircase and pulls the level at the top of the stairs. The wall slides closed behind him and secures with a loud thud and a series of clicks.

I haven't been in here in 15 years. Glad to see it is all still holding up and secure. Hopefully the gun emplacements aren't inoperable. 15 years is a long time.

John quickly goes down the stairs almost 2 floors and enters a hallway. John heads down the hall and opens a wooden door to the right. He walks into a room directly under the tavern. The room is cut out from the stone of the hill, making it solid and nearly impervious. The room contains 6 gun emplacements each with their own port window. The gun port covers are starting to give way as some plant life is growing through the wooden covers. John moves to a gun port and opens the cover. Some dirt falls in and vegetation covers the view outside. Making quick use of his knife, John cuts away the vegetation, revealing a clear view of the town and the monster.

John does the same for the remaining gun ports, opening them and clearing the view.

John then checks the ammo and gunpower storage to ensure the powder is dry and the ammo is usable.

Just as I remember. God I loved this place. Wish I didn't have to leave it.

John quickly moves back up the stairs, pulling the lever and opening the wall. John steps out and repulls the lever to secure it behind him. John makes his way back upstairs where the rest of the group works to defend the position. John finds Jack standing by the window and pulls him aside.

How many men do you have with you here?

Jack looks at him.

I have thirty men with me here, and the rest are with my ship which is not anywhere near here. Why do you ask?

Quickly but quietly gather you men. Bring them into the cellar. Leave 6 up here to prevent anyone else from following. I have a means to fight the Kraken. I don't really trust you nor your men, but I trust them more than the guards upstairs.

John leaves Jack and heads back to the cellar. He opens the passage and waits for Jack.

Kaipur watches as Jack and John head down. Before he can do anything else the Kraken resumes throwing things at the building, and a chunk of stone crashes in through the window killing a few men.

Oh bloody hell.

Kaipur quickly grabs some furniture and shouts for help, they quickly begin blocking the hole as rain begins pouring in through it. He shouts for the guards to fire the cannons he found, they go off and only 1 shot hits the kraken. The rain quickly pours in and soaks the gunpowder ruining it. Kaipur curses loudly at the men.

Why the hell didn't you keep the gunpowder further into the building!.

Jack and his men are now where the guns are down below. Jack has them loaded quickly and readied. The guns are aimed. These are relatively large guns. The guns are aimed and fired, 1 after another very quickly. Jack looks to the kraken bleeding a river of ink.

Kaipur is shocked by the sudden attack on the Kraken. But while most of the people around him cheer Kaipur is wondering where the attack is coming from. After watching for a moment he realizes it must be coming from below him. Must be a hidden compartment he figures. Explains why all those men went down. He watches as the Kraken ducks beneath the ocean and starts to move back. But the rain continues to pour.
